System Compatibility & Hardware Integration Architecture

The ZKTeco FaceDepot-8AL visible light facial recognition terminal is engineered for deep integration across physical access control systems, enterprise security networks, and automated attendance frameworks. Designed with multi-protocol connectivity, the terminal functions seamlessly within complex security architectures, turnstile lanes, barrier gates, and standalone door entry points.

Software & Platform Compatibility

The terminal features native software compatibility with the ZKBioSecurity centralized management platform. This platform compatibility ensures centralized user management, rapid deployment of access privileges, automated real-time event monitoring, and transaction data synchronization across multi-site installations. With an onboard capacity to retain up to 1,000,000 transaction records and 10,000 events, the terminal operates reliably in both networked and standalone offline modes, syncing back to ZKBioSecurity once network connectivity is established.

Slave Reader & Peripheral Communication Protocols

To support multi-factor credentialing and secondary entry/exit verification, the FaceDepot-8AL incorporates comprehensive peripheral communication protocols, enabling direct communication with auxiliary reading devices and external controllers:

  • Wiegand Protocol: Integrates with third-party access control panels and legacy Wiegand reader hardware.
  • RS485 & RS232 Serial Interfaces: Facilitate robust, industrial-grade data exchange with slave readers supporting fingerprint (FP), RFID cards, 1D/2D barcodes, and QR-code scanning.
  • Security Relay Box Compatibility: Interoperates with dedicated external security relay modules to secure lock wiring away from the external side of the perimeter, preventing physical bypass attempts.

Physical Access Control I/O Interfaces

The unit is equipped with dedicated physical wiring interfaces that allow direct connection to downstream door hardware and peripheral safety devices without requiring intermediary interface boards:

  • Lock Relay Output: Directly commands electronic locks, electromagnetic strikes, turnstile release mechanisms, and vehicular boom barriers.
  • Door Sensor Input: Monitors door position states (open/closed) in real time to generate forced-entry and door-held-open alarms.
  • Exit Button Interface: Accepts dry-contact triggers from request-to-exit (RTE) push buttons and passive infrared exit sensors.
  • Alarm Output: Triggers local audio-visual sirens or signals central building alarm monitoring systems during tamper or forced door events.
  • Auxiliary Input: Interfaces with external sensors, fire alarm relays, or smoke detectors for system-wide fail-safe automated lock release.

Power & Environmental Integration Parameters

The FaceDepot-8AL operates on a standard 12V DC power input with an operational current draw of less than 2,000 mA. Its IP68-rated dustproof and waterproof enclosure, combined with IK04 impact resistance and an operational temperature range of -30°C to +60°C (≤93% non-condensing humidity), ensures physical and electrical compatibility with outdoor pedestrian turnstiles, exterior gates, manufacturing plants, and IT facility perimeters.
