Yale Kyra Pro Architectural & System Compatibility

Door Leaf and Mortise Dimensional Compatibility

The Yale Kyra Pro push-pull digital lock (SKU: KTI0100408RKYRA) is engineered to mount onto entrance and perimeter security doors with a leaf thickness ranging between 40 mm and 100 mm. Proper operation requires a standard 60 mm backset door preparation to house the fully-auto push-pull mortise lock case assembly. Facility planners and installation technicians must ensure adequate stile width and door surface area to clear the physical footprint of both lock escutcheons without obstructing surrounding architectural hardware, weather seals, or door frames.

Door Thickness Accommodation: 40 mm to 100 mm
Backset Standard: 60 mm
Exterior Front Body Footprint: 78 mm (W) x 390 mm (H) x 50 mm (D)
Interior Back Body Footprint: 76 mm (W) x 390 mm (H) x 60 mm (D)
Lock Case Type: Fully-automatic push-pull mortise assembly

Precise mechanical alignment of the striker plate on the door frame is critical for this push-pull lock assembly. To avoid latch retraction issues or deadbolt friction caused by door sagging or thermal warping over time, striker plate alignment must be verified during installation.

Credential and Access System Integration

The Yale Kyra Pro supports multi-factor electronic access management, allowing facilities to integrate different credential types across industrial, commercial, and residential perimeters. The lock's onboard processor supports discrete capacity limits across multiple entry methods:

Biometric Fingerprint Interface: Internal capacitive optical sensor accommodates up to 100 individual user fingerprint registrations.
PIN Code Keypad: Backlit touch keypad accommodates up to 100 individual user PIN codes (6 to 10 digits per code), featuring scramble PIN code functionality to conceal passcodes from observers.
Contactless RFID: Integrated high-frequency reader supports up to 100 RFID cards or keytags for credential scanning.
Physical Override: Includes 2 mechanical override keys compatible with the hidden manual key cylinder for mechanical fail-safe access.

Network Connectivity and Yale Home Ecosystem

The Kyra Pro integrates natively with the Yale Home Smartphone App via localized Bluetooth communication, enabling configuration, credential administration, and direct localized unlocking from authorized mobile handsets. For remote management, wide-area network status monitoring, and cloud-linked operation outside of Bluetooth range, the lock requires the Yale Home kit / bridge accessory (sold separately). In addition, facilities utilizing standalone wireless trigger modules can integrate an optional RF remote control receiver and transmitter kit (sold separately).

Power Supply and Emergency Interface Compatibility

Electronic functions, onboard logic, and the motorized lock case mechanism operate on alkaline batteries (they are not included). The system requires regular battery renewal every 6 to 10 months or upon the trigger of low-battery audible warnings. In instances where internal batteries (they are not included) reach full discharge, the lock integrates a 5V Type-C USB emergency backup port located on the exterior front assembly, allowing temporary power delivery via standard USB-C cable to permit electronic credential verification.

Environmental Suitability

The Yale Kyra Pro is designed for interior entranceways, covered perimeter doors, and sheltered architectural entries. It is not rated for unshielded outdoor environments with direct, open exposure to driving rain, excessive standing moisture, or severe outdoor weather conditions.

Architectural Door Preparation and Installation Guidelines for Yale Kyra Pro

The Yale Kyra Pro push-pull digital mortise lock requires strict adherence to physical door dimensions, mortise pocket specifications, and architectural hardware alignments. Proper site preparation and dimensional checks ensure seamless operation of the fully-automatic motorized mortise mechanism and prevent binding during latch retraction and deadbolt extension.

Door Dimensional Requirements and Preparation

Before initiating door machining, verify that the door assembly meets the engineering criteria specified for the Yale Kyra Pro chassis. The mortise configuration requires a standardized 60 mm backset measured from the door edge to the centre of the lock cylinder and spindle axis. The lock is engineered to mount onto door leaves with thicknesses ranging between 40 mm and 100 mm.

Backset Dimension: 60 mm
Door Thickness Range: 40 mm to 100 mm
Front Body Dimensions: 78 mm (W) x 390 mm (H) x 50 mm (D)
Back Body Dimensions: 76 mm (W) x 390 mm (H) x 60 mm (D)
Hardware Finish: Matt Black with Champagne Gold Trimming

Ensure that door stiles provide sufficient flat clearance to accommodate the 78 mm wide front body and 76 mm wide back body without overlapping glass beadings, architectural moulding profiles, or frame rebates.

Environmental and Location Evaluation

The Yale Kyra Pro is intended for indoor access control and sheltered entrance perimeter applications. The lock is not rated for unshielded outdoor environments with direct exposure to driving rain or severe weather conditions. Moisture ingress through the escutcheon perimeter or interface gaps can cause electrical shorting across the biometric fingerprint reader, PIN keypad, and internal control boards. Exterior doors must feature an overhead canopy or porch structure providing protection from direct precipitation.

Mortise and Escutcheon Assembly

Prepare the door leaf edge mortise pocket to receive the fully-auto lock case flush with the door face. Route the multi-conductor harness through the cross-bore hole carefully, ensuring the cable is not pinched or sheared against the inner steel mounting plates during fastening. Position the external front body on the exterior face and secure it to the interior mounting bracket using the provided machine screws.

Connect the wiring harness securely to the multi-functional back body. The interior assembly accommodates the thumb-turn knob, open/close button interface, and battery housing. Align the interior drive spindle and secure the back body to the mounting bracket, verifying that push-pull movement operates without mechanical binding.

Striker Plate Alignment and Clearance Setup

Accurate positioning of the frame striker plate is critical for fully automated mortise operation. Striker misalignment resulting from door sagging, frame settlement, or thermal warping causes mechanical deadbolt resistance or latch retraction failure. Install the strike plate and dust box flush into the frame jamb, ensuring the deadbolt extends into the strike pocket without friction.

Technicians and users must avoid closing the door forcibly while the deadbolt is extended. Forcible contact between a protruded deadbolt and the door frame will cause severe mechanical damage to the internal mortise gears and latch assembly.

Power Setup and Mechanical Override Verification

Power is supplied to the lock by standard alkaline batteries (they are not included). Install high-quality alkaline batteries (they are not included) into the back body battery compartment, observing correct polarity alignment. Before latching the door leaf, test the thumb-turn knob, internal unlock button, and exterior handles while the door remains open.

Verify secondary access mechanisms prior to handover. Confirm smooth physical operation using the 2 mechanical key overrides included in the hardware package. Additionally, test the 5V emergency power input via the external Type-C USB port to verify that the lock can be energized externally in the event of completely drained internal alkaline batteries (they are not included).

Yale Kyra Pro Push-Pull Smart Lock Operational Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

Systematic troubleshooting of the Yale Kyra Pro push-pull digital mortise lock requires methodical verification of mechanical door alignment, electronic credential status, and secondary power provisions. Addressing integration faults promptly ensures reliable facility access control and protects internal electromechanical lock case components.

Power Failures and Emergency Lockout Remediation

The Yale Kyra Pro relies on internal alkaline batteries (they are not included) to operate its automated mortise drive motor. Electronic depletion prevents automated latch actuation, biometric scanning, and touch keypad recognition.

When alkaline batteries (they are not included) drop below operational thresholds, the lock issues an audible warning. If depleted batteries (they are not included) are ignored, external access becomes unresponsive. To regain access without physical damage, apply temporary electronic power using a standard 5V Type-C USB cable connected to the external emergency power port on the front body. Once connected, authenticate using a valid user PIN (6 to 10 digits), registered RFID card, or enrolled fingerprint to actuate the mortise.

Alternatively, use one of the two supplied mechanical key overrides. Insert the mechanical key into the external override keyway to manually retract the mortise deadbolt. Once unlocked, immediately install a fresh set of high-grade alkaline batteries (they are not included) inside the back body compartment. Regular maintenance requires battery (they are not included) replacement every 6 to 10 months and checking for electrolyte leakage.

Mortise Latch and Deadbolt Binding

The fully-automated mortise lock case requires free travel across the 60 mm backset prep. Door leaf sagging, settling frames, or thermal expansion can cause physical interference between the mortise deadbolt and the frame striker plate.

Deadbolt Retraction Resistance: If the motor stalls or sounds strained, inspect the gap between the door leaf and frame. Realign the striker plate vertically or horizontally to ensure the deadbolt enters the pocket without lateral friction.
Protruded Bolt Impact: Never slam or forcefully close the door leaf when the motorized deadbolt is extended. Forcible impacts against the frame distort internal mortise linkages and lead to mechanical drive failure.
Leaf Thickness Compatibility: Verify that the door leaf thickness falls strictly within the supported 40 mm to 100 mm specification. Spacers and mounting bolts must match the door depth to eliminate chassis deflection.

Biometric Scanner and Touch Keypad Diagnostic Checks

Contamination on optical and capacitive surfaces impairs credential recognition for enrolled users (up to 100 fingerprints, 100 PIN codes, or 100 RFID keytags).

Clean the fingerprint optical reader and the touch keypad face using a clean, dry, or slightly damp microfibre cloth. Never apply volatile chemicals, benzene, alcohol, or petroleum-based thinners, and never spray water directly onto the lock housing, as liquid ingress will short-circuit internal printed circuits. The Yale Kyra Pro is engineered for indoor doors or sheltered entries; direct weather or driving rain exposure leads to sensor degradation.

If keypad entry consistently fails, ensure the scramble PIN code feature is being used correctly. Users may input arbitrary random digits before or after the true 6 to 10 digit PIN code to prevent code interception. Entering an incorrect PIN sequence multiple times may engage temporary lockouts.

Internal Egress and Remote Connectivity Faults

The multi-functional back body interface (76 mm W x 390 mm H x 60 mm D) provides internal egress via an emergency thumb-turn knob and an electronic press button. If the unlock button fails to retract the motorized mortise, verify that the mechanical thumb-turn rotates smoothly to confirm that the deadbolt is not mechanically wedged in the strike plate.

For Yale Home Smartphone App pairing issues, ensure Bluetooth is active on the mobile device within local proximity of the lock. Remote monitoring, remote unlocking, and off-site access configuration require the dedicated Yale Home bridge/kit (sold separately). For facilities using RF remote transmitters, verify that the optional RF remote control receiver module (sold separately) is firmly seated in the back body header.

Application Scenarios & Architectural Deployments for Yale Kyra Pro

The Yale Kyra Pro digital push-pull lock is engineered for commercial workspaces, enterprise facilities, and premium residential architectures requiring automated mortise latching and multi-credential management. Built around a fully-auto mortise lock case, the system integrates push-pull mechanical ergonomics with extensive credential capacity, operating on doors with a thickness range between 40 mm and 100 mm with a standard 60 mm backset.

Corporate Boardrooms and Executive Suites

In executive corporate suites and confidential conference rooms, physical privacy and access restriction must be maintained without disrupting workflow. The Yale Kyra Pro accommodates up to 100 unique biometric fingerprints and up to 100 individual PIN codes (ranging from 6 to 10 digits). Facility managers can assign distinct access parameters across leadership and operational teams. For environments where external guests or observers are present, the lock incorporates a scramble PIN code feature. Users can enter arbitrary random numbers before or after their genuine 6-to-10-digit sequence, preventing visual PIN compromise through shoulder surfing or keypad smudging.

Sheltered Enterprise Entrances and Commercial Foyers

The lock's front body dimensions (78 mm W x 390 mm H x 50 mm D) and back body dimensions (76 mm W x 390 mm H x 60 mm D) deliver an expansive architectural presence finished in Matt Black with Champagne Gold Trimming. While the internal electronics require protected, sheltered environments shielded from direct outdoor driving rain, the device is ideally deployed on primary lobby access doors, executive suite entries, and internal security vestibules. Its fully-auto push-pull mortise allows personnel to unlatch and enter seamlessly using one fluid motion after biometric or RFID verification.

Multi-User Commercial Departments and Shared Facilities

Operations housing cross-functional teams—such as design studios, financial offices, and research labs—benefit from flexible multi-modal credentials. With capacity for up to 100 RFID key tags alongside fingerprint and PIN profiles, administrators can tailor credentials to operational protocol. Egress from inside the secure zone is streamlined through the multi-functional back body interface, which permits swift exiting using either an integrated push button or a manual thumb-turn knob.
