Installation and Commissioning Guidelines

Receiver Placement and Physical Setup

The Ahuja AWM-495V1 receiver unit features a compact desktop chassis measuring 230 mm (W) × 42 mm (H) × 150 mm (D) with a net weight of 305 g. Place the receiver on a stable, flat surface in an elevated location to maintain line-of-sight propagation with the operating area. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit to facilitate access to front-panel controls and rear-panel interfacing ports.

To ensure optimal RF reception and prevent signal dropouts across the non-diversity VHF High Band receiver architecture, fully extend the rear-mounted telescopic antenna vertically. Maintain clear space around the extended antenna structure to maximize transmission reliability from the internal dipole antenna of the handheld transmitter.

Power Supply and Audio Interfacing

Connect the system electrical power and audio signal path according to standard professional public address interfacing practices:

  • DC Power Connection: Insert the dedicated DC barrel plug from the external power adapter into the 12V DC input jack located on the rear panel of the receiver. Plug the adapter into a standard 240V AC, 50 Hz utility outlet.
  • Audio Output Routing: Insert one end of a standard 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) unbalanced audio cable into the 6.3 mm audio output jack on the receiver rear panel. Route the opposite end into a low-impedance microphone input channel of an external mixing console or PA power amplifier. The receiver delivers an audio output level of 0–55 mV across a 1 kΩ load.

Handheld Transmitter Preparation

The handheld wireless microphone transmitter measures 55 mm in diameter by 248 mm in length, weighing 180 g without batteries. To prepare the dynamic cardioid capsule transmitter for field operation:

  • Access the internal battery compartment located in the lower body barrel of the transmitter.
  • Install 2 × 1.5V AA pencil cells (they are not included) observing correct terminal polarity to establish the 3V DC operating supply. The transmitter draws a current of ≤100 mA during active operation.
  • Secure the battery cover housing firmly before powering on the transmitter. Whenever operating voltage decreases, promptly replace the 2 × 1.5V AA pencil cells (they are not included) to prevent signal distortion or dropouts.

Commissioning, RF Synchronization, and Calibration

Both the transmitter and receiver utilize factory-matched, quartz crystal-locked VHF High Band frequencies with a frequency stability rating of ±0.005%. Operational commissioning must be executed using identical frequency pairings:

  • Receiver Power Initialization: Depress the receiver front-panel Power switch to the ON position. The red LED illuminates, confirming incoming 12V DC power.
  • Transmitter Activation: Slide the 2-position switch on the handheld microphone to the ON position. The integrated green LED on the transmitter illuminates to indicate active 3V DC power status and 15 mW maximum RF carrier generation via FM (F3E) modulation.
  • RF Carrier Confirmation: Observe the front panel of the receiver. The dedicated green RF reception LED will illuminate continuously to confirm successful lock-on to the incoming VHF carrier signal.
  • Audio Gain Alignment: While speaking into the cardioid dynamic microphone capsule (operating across a 50 Hz to 15,000 Hz acoustic frequency response), adjust the receiver front-panel rotary output volume potentiometer to match the input sensitivity of the connected amplifier, ensuring total harmonic distortion remains under 0.5% with a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 80 dB.
