How does the SOLT STS-100FM floor mat sensor trigger and reset patient alert calls?

Answer:
The system activates automatically when pressure is applied to the floor contact mat switch and includes a dedicated Cancel button on the transmitter unit, allowing attending staff to clear the active alarm at the patient's bedside.

Unlike standalone call buttons, the SOLT STS-100FM combines automated fall detection with manual control mechanisms:

  • Foot-Step Detection: An internal electric contact switch embedded in the floor mat senses pressure when a patient steps down from a bed, attempts unassisted egress, or falls. Stepping on the mat immediately initiates a wireless call signal to caregiver terminals.
  • Dual Input Modes: Alongside automatic mat pressure sensing, patients can manually trigger emergency calls using the transmitter call button or the attached pull cord, which extends up to 1.0 meter.
  • Dedicated Cancel Function: The transmitter features a separate Cancel button directly on its front face. This prevents phantom alerts by requiring nursing staff to physically attend to the patient and manually acknowledge the alarm locally before resetting the receiver status.
  • Enclosure & Placement: The transmitter is engineered for wall mounting adjacent to patient beds or inside washroom and toilet compartments within the 1.4-meter reach of the sensor mat cable.
