SOLT SR5-MPRT Hardware Setup and System Commissioning

Host PC Workstation Requirements

Before installing the SOLT SR5-MPRT monitoring receiver, ensure the target PC workstation satisfies the manufacturer operating specifications. The host machine must run Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11 and feature at least one functional USB port. The PC must also be equipped with functional built-in or external audio speakers to sound call arrival chimes and escalation notifications.

Physical Interconnection and Placement

The SR5-MPRT is designed for desktop console placement alongside the primary monitoring workstation. Its compact enclosure measures 146 mm x 90 mm x 32 mm and weighs 116 g. Because the unit houses an internal helical antenna operating at an RF carrier frequency of 434.6500 MHz (10 mW RF power), site the console in an elevated desktop position away from enclosed metal cabinetry or heavy RF shielding.

Connect the hardware using the supplied interface peripherals:

  • Insert the RJ45 termination of the PC communication cable into the dedicated port on the SR5-MPRT unit, and insert the USB termination into an active USB port on the Windows workstation.
  • Connect the external AC/DC 12V power supply adapter to the DC power input on the receiver and plug the adapter into a standard mains outlet.

Driver Assignment and COM Port Configuration

Proper data transmission requires Windows to establish a stable virtual serial communication path. Install the certified USB-to-serial COM port driver before running the software. Open Windows Device Manager and navigate to the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section to verify that the USB serial device is detected and assigned a dedicated COM port number. Note the assigned port number for application setup.

Software Deployment and Button Registration

Install the included SOLT PC Manager Software for MS Windows onto the host PC. Within the software setup menu, select the corresponding COM port identified in Device Manager to align communication with the receiver's 1800 bps wireless data rate and 12.5 kHz channel spacing.

The SR5-MPRT manages a system capacity of up to 1,000 registered calling buttons. Pair individual calling buttons into the PC Manager database by transmitting an initial RF signal from each transmitter while the software is in registration mode. Assign functional names, room numbers, or desk IDs to each button. If expanding wireless coverage across expansive facilities, place compatible SOLT SR5-BPR signal repeaters between peripheral calling units and the central SR5-MPRT receiver.

Diagnostic Indicators and Commissioning Verification

Verify normal hardware operation using the onboard status indicators and 1.3-inch LCD screen:

  • Power (PWR) LED: Illuminates steadily when the 12V external power supply is energized.
  • Reception (Rx) LED: Blinks momentarily upon the arrival of FSK modulated (+/- 3 kHz deviation) RF data packets from calling buttons or repeaters.
  • 1.3-Inch LCD: Displays live operational status and internal receiver state.
