Installation, Mounting, and Over-the-Air Configuration Guide for SOLT SR5-BPR

The SOLT SR5-BPR wireless signal repeater and booster transceiver is engineered to expand the transmission range between SOLT call buttons and central receiving equipment. In complex architectural settings—such as hospitals, nursing facilities, multi-level corporate offices, and hospitality complexes—structural obstacles like thick masonry or metal partitions attenuate 433 MHz RF transmissions. Proper physical mounting and configuration ensure consistent 360-degree omnidirectional coverage across the entire network footprint.

Physical Placement and Back-Side Mounting

The SR5-BPR unit features integrated mounting points on the back side of its black chassis, designed for direct attachment to structural walls or flat ceiling surfaces. For optimal signal distribution, mount the repeater in an elevated, unobstructed position centrally located between the peripheral call button transmitters and the receiving units (such as SM3 or SM7 series alphanumeric display receivers, SP5 or SP7 wrist pagers, or the SR5-MPR PC monitoring receiver).

The repeater measures 146 mm (W) x 90 mm (H) x 32 mm (D) and weighs between 114 g and 116 g. Orient the external dipole antenna vertically away from large metallic ducting, electrical conduits, or grounded structural steel to maximize the 360-degree omnidirectional radiation pattern provided by its 10 mW maximum output transceiver.

Power Connections and Supply Requirements

The SR5-BPR operates via continuous line power using an external AC-to-DC power adapter. Connect the supplied power adapter to an AC mains supply rated between AC 110V and 240V. The adapter delivers a regulated DC 12V / 1A output directly into the repeater's DC input terminal. If testing paired calling buttons during site setup, ensure the remote button batteries (they are not included) are correctly seated before verifying power-on status on the repeater's built-in 1.3-inch LCD screen.

Over-the-Air (By-Air) ID Registration and Memory Setup

The SR5-BPR stores and manages up to 500 call button/bell IDs in non-volatile internal memory without requiring physical data cabling to individual field devices. Complete wireless registration through the following procedure:

  • Power on the repeater and observe the 1.3-inch LCD screen menu interface.
  • Navigate to the registration mode on the LCD screen to prepare the transceiver for incoming over-the-air packets.
  • Trigger the target SOLT call button by pressing its call faceplate; the repeater captures the 433.92 MHz FSK transmission by air and registers the unique ID into memory.
  • Repeat for all system call buttons up to the 500-unit capacity.
  • If memory reconfiguration or site reassignment is required, engage the master reset function on the LCD to execute an easy all-bell ID deletion.

Multi-Repeater Networks and Repeater Bounce Suppression

System integrators can deploy an unlimited quantity of SR5-BPR repeaters across large facilities to ensure gap-free signal propagation. The unit utilizes Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) RF hardware for stable 433 MHz FSK/GFSK signal transmission. When multiple repeaters operate with overlapping coverage zones, configure the following parameters via the 1.3-inch LCD interface to prevent signal echoing:

  • TX Delay Time: Set the transmission delay to stagger retransmissions across adjacent units, preventing transmission collisions.
  • Duplicated Call Restriction Time: Program the restriction window to suppress redundant transmissions of the same call ID, stopping repeater bounce across overlapping repeater zones.
