Pre-Installation and Surface Preparation
The SOLT SB5R-2XWH is an autonomous wireless transmitter designed for rapid deployment in healthcare facilities, corporate offices, clinics, and hospitality environments. Because the device functions entirely over radio frequency, installation requires no electrical conduit, data cabling, or junction boxes at the call station location.
Prior to mounting, verify the installation position against facility architectural layouts and ergonomic accessibility requirements. In hospital patient rooms and clinics, position the transmitter on the bedside wall or bed headboard panel within easy reach of the patient. The compact circular casing features a 58 mm outer diameter, a 12.6 mm depth, and a net weight of approximately 20 to 21 grams, allowing it to be installed on flat vertical or horizontal surfaces without structural reinforcement.
Bracket Attachment and Transmitter Assembly
Each SB5R-2XWH unit is supplied complete with a dedicated mounting cover bracket. Follow these steps to secure and power the unit:
- Mounting Cover Positioning: Affix the included mounting cover to the target surface (such as a headboard, wall, or desk) ensuring the orientation provides unobstructed physical access to the front push plate.
- Battery Installation: Insert 1 x 3V CR2032 lithium coin cell battery (they are not included) into the internal battery-circuit compartment, observing correct terminal polarity.
- Housing Engagement: Align the white circular transmitter housing with the installed mounting cover bracket and press until firmly seated. The internal sealing design maintains integrated splash and dust protection across commercial and clinical environments.
RF Configuration and Receiver Pairing
The SB5R-2XWH transmits within the 433 MHz band (433.05 MHz to 433.79 MHz) using FSK / GFSK modulation and 360-degree omnidirectional signal distribution. The onboard Texas Instruments (TI) microcontroller runs SOLT proprietary RF communication protocols to prevent signal collisions and duplicate call registrations.
Pair each transmitter with the destination receiver hardware before putting the system into live service:
- Central Nurse Call Displays: Program the unique digital address of the SB5R-2XWH into central numeric receivers and display panels, such as the SOLT SM3 series, to map room and bed numbers.
- Wearable Receivers: Register the call point ID directly to SOLT mobile wrist pagers, including SP7 and SP9 units, for mobile nursing and staff alerting.
- Signal Repeaters: In multi-floor buildings or facilities with RF-attenuating physical partitions, install SOLT SR5-BPR wireless repeaters along transit paths to extend transmission coverage into shaded zones.
- Software Interface: Link the deployment to SOLT SR5-MPR or SR5-MPRT central PC interface modules running SOLT PC Manager software for real-time monitoring and event logging aligned with NABH and JCI audit workflows.

Operational Commissioning and Post-Mounting Care
Perform a complete functional validation immediately after securing the transmitter. Depress the central button once to trigger a primary call; confirm that the integrated high-brightness LED indicator illuminates to provide visual transmission feedback, and verify that the corresponding room number registers on the paired SM3 receiver or SP7/SP9 pager. Next, execute a bedside cancellation by initiating a long press on the button to confirm the call alert is cleared across the network.
For ongoing facility sanitation, the sealed white housing can be wiped down during routine cleaning cycles using standard non-abrasive hospital-grade disinfectants. When battery renewal is required, detach the transmitter from its mounting cover bracket, swap out the exhausted 3V CR2032 lithium coin cell battery (they are not included), and clip the unit back into place without removing the base bracket from the wall.
