Site Readiness and Walkway Clearance
Proper physical site preparation is essential before positioning the Sivananda TS-1 MD (SL) motorized pedestrian tripod turnstile. The installer must account for the turnstile cabinet footprint of 420 mm (L) x 1020 mm (H), along with lane clearance requirements. For the standard TS-1 configuration fitted with 380 mm stainless steel arms, allocate a finished walkway width of 630 mm. If deploying the TS-2 layout with optional 500 mm arms, plan for a 750 mm clear passage width. Ensure the surrounding operational environment complies with the rated operating temperature window of 5 °C to 55 °C and a relative humidity threshold not exceeding 90% non-condensing.
Mechanical Base Anchoring
The turnstile unit has an overall net weight of 40 kg. Structural stability and vibration isolation depend on a solid, level concrete floor surface. Position the mild steel powder-coated cabinet (or stainless steel casework version) at the designated lane boundary. Secure the turnstile chassis directly to the structural slab using heavy-duty floor anchor bolts through the factory-prepared base mounting apertures. Rigid base anchoring is mandatory to withstand continuous pedestrian push forces, support the 100% duty cycle rating, and allow the internal 3 x 120º indexing hub and hydraulic damping self-centering mechanism to operate without deflection.
Electrical Power Infrastructure
Route power conduits through the subfloor into the base of the turnstile casework prior to final bolting. The internal motorized drive and built-in logic controller require an isolated, stable single-phase power feed:
- Operating Voltage: 230 V AC, 50 Hz, single-phase supply.
- Current Consumption: 0.5 A typical.
- Power Rating: 30 Watts nominal consumption.
- Safety Compliance: Meets CE compliance standards for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
Access Control and Fire Alarm Interface Wiring
The TS-1 MD (SL) is engineered for broad integration with third-party perimeter management hardware, such as access control panels, RFID proximity readers, smart card scanners, and biometric devices. Terminate field signal wiring at the internal logic board using two dedicated Potential-Free Contacts (PFCs): one contact assigned for Entry authorization and one contact for Exit authorization.
Integrate a dedicated normally-open or normally-closed signal line from the building's central fire alarm control system. When the fire alarm output triggers, the turnstile automatically executes its drop-arm emergency function, collapsing the horizontal arm downward to permit an unobstructed escape path. The motorized system features automatic reset to bring the arms back into service after the emergency signal clears.
Commissioning and Functional Inspection
Before commissioning the turnstile for daily traffic throughput, execute a complete functional checkout:
- Verify that the built-in directional lane indicators illuminate correctly, toggling between the Green Arrow (passage allowed) and Red Cross (access restricted).
- Validate that the heavy-duty solenoid locking mechanism and positive action lock reliably prevent multiple passages on a single contact pulse.
- Check the anti-reverse locking action to ensure reverse rotation is mechanically arrested once the arms rotate 25º past their home position.
- Assess the hydraulic damping mechanism to confirm quiet, smooth deceleration and accurate 3 x 120º self-centering back to the neutral stop point.
