Maintenance, Battery Care, and Inspection Protocols

Battery Management and Automatic Charging Profile

The Prolite PEL 210 TBL emergency twin-beam luminaire is equipped with an internal Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) rechargeable battery engineered to deliver up to 180 minutes (3 hours) ±10% of autonomous emergency backup. To preserve cell health and maximize service life across demanding industrial environments, the unit incorporates an internal constant-voltage charging circuit. Upon mains restoration following an outage, the system initiates a 10 to 12 hour continuous recharging cycle to bring the SLA cell back to nominal capacity.

To avoid terminal cell degradation caused by deep discharge states, the circuit features an automatic low-voltage cut-off mechanism. Once the emergency illumination cycle exhausts permissible operational voltage, the battery automatically cuts off. This prevents plate sulphation and ensures the system can quickly and safely take up recharge when nominal ~230 V AC (50 Hz, ±10%) power is restored. Once fully charged, the circuit automatically shifts from bulk replenishment into continuous trickle charge mode, holding the battery at readiness without overcharging.

Operational Status Monitoring

Facility maintenance staff can verify the operational charging state via the integrated visual indicator located on the front of the enclosure. A continuous Red LED "ON" confirms that incoming AC line power through the 5 A, 250 V polycarbonate connector block is energized and the constant-voltage charging system is active. Absence of this indicator during mains availability warrants inspection of the incoming terminal connections or facility supply breakers.

Lamp Head and Optical Maintenance

The fixture is equipped with two 10 W tungsten halogen lamps seated in G6.35 lamp bases fabricated from liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Maintenance technicians must observe the following optical and mechanical upkeep procedures:

  • Diffuser and Glass Care: Inspect the hardened glass diffusers periodically for accumulation of dust or atmospheric residues. Clean using dry, lint-free cloths. Avoid abrasive chemicals that could degrade the IP 20 enclosure seals.
  • Reflector Assembly: The unit incorporates electrochemically brightened C.R.C.A. sheet reflectors. Verify that the panning and tilting mechanical adjustment brackets remain tightened in their directed positions to maintain calibrated egress illumination.
  • Lamp Replacement: When replacing defective 10 W tungsten halogen capsules, ensure the fixture is fully disconnected from the mains supply. Handle new G6.35 halogen bulbs without direct finger contact on the quartz envelope to prevent localized thermal stress.

Enclosure and Hardware Servicing

The PEL 210 TBL is constructed from 22 MS C.R.C.A. (cold rolled close annealed mild steel) sheet finished in white epoxy polyester powder coating. In industrial plants, pump houses, and hazardous process zones, inspect the housing quarterly for mechanical damage, secure seating of the 5 kg wall or portable mounting setup, and environmental particulate buildup around the IP 20 rated ventilation seams.
