Mechanical Mounting and Structural Placement
The Prolite PEL 210 TBL emergency twin beam luminaire is engineered for dual deployment modes: fixed wall mounting or portable positioning across facility zones. When engineering a permanent wall-mount installation, verify that the substrate supports the fixture's approximate weight of 5 kg. The luminaire measures 295 mm in length, 285 mm in width, and 75 mm in depth (with manufacturing tolerances of +5 mm). The enclosure is fabricated from heavy-gauge 22 MS C.R.C.A. (Cold Rolled Close Annealed) sheet finished in a white epoxy polyester powder coating.
For permanent wall placement, mount the steel backplate securely using load-rated fasteners matched to masonry, concrete, or industrial steel framing. The assembly carries an IP 20 ingress protection rating and complies with IS 10322 and IS 9583-1981 standards. This design is suited for indoor environments including chemical and hazardous processing areas, pump rooms, hotel corridors, staircases, and underground parking structures. When utilized as a portable emergency lighting source, place the flat base on a stable, vibration-free surface clear of immediate hazards.
Optical Head Adjustment and Beam Aiming
The optical system consists of dual lamp housings fitted with well-contoured, electrochemically brightened C.R.C.A. sheet reflectors and hardened glass diffusers. Each luminaire head accommodates a 10 W tungsten halogen lamp (2 x 10 W total output) fitted into a high-temperature liquid crystal polymer (LCP) body with a G6.35 lamp base.
Each optical housing features integrated panning and tilting arrangements. Once mechanical mounting is secured, adjust the panning angle horizontally and the tilting angle vertically to project targeted emergency illumination along designated exit paths, stair treads, or critical control interfaces. Tighten all pivoting hardware after final positioning to prevent beam drift from ambient facility vibrations.
Mains Electrical Termination
Electrical wiring should be executed by qualified personnel adhering to national industrial electrical codes. The unit operates from a nominal mains input voltage of ~230 V AC, 50 Hz (±10% allowable variation). Alternative input voltage configurations are available upon request (POR).
- Connector Specification: Integrated electrical-grade milky white polycarbonate terminal block rated for 5 A at 250 V, equipped with solid brass contacts.
- Conductor Routing: Feed incoming phase, neutral, and earth cables through the designated chassis entry knockouts. Strip conductor insulation cleanly and clamp firmly into the 5 A brass terminals to prevent loose contacts or high-resistance heating.
- Circuit Configuration: The PEL 210 TBL is a non-maintained emergency unit; the 2 x 10 W tungsten halogen lamps remain unlit under normal mains power and ignite automatically upon complete loss of the 230 V AC line.
Commissioning, Charging, and Initial Testing
Following wiring verification, energize the AC mains feed to initiate the internal charging circuit:
- Visual Indicator: The front enclosure panel features a red LED. An active Red LED “ON” state confirms that mains power is connected and the internal constant voltage charging circuit is actively functioning.
- Initial Charge Cycle: The internal SLA rechargeable battery (they are not included) requires a continuous recharging cycle of 10 to 12 hours to achieve full electrochemical readiness.
- Cut-Off and Float Protection: The luminaire incorporates an internal low-voltage cut-off circuit that isolates the SLA battery (they are not included) at deep discharge thresholds, preventing cell damage and facilitating rapid recharge upon mains resumption. Once fully replenished, the charging module automatically slides into trickle charge to maintain full capacity continuously.
After completing the primary 10 to 12 hour charge window, conduct a functional commissioning test by interrupting the AC supply. Both 10 W halogen beams must ignite instantly, verifying system readiness to supply its specified 180 minutes (±10%) emergency backup duration.
