Ahuja SSA-160EM Public Address Deployment Scenarios & Applications

Industrial Facility Paging and Distributed Plant Audio

The Ahuja SSA-160EM is engineered to support distributed public address and paging networks across industrial shop floors, manufacturing bays, logistics warehouses, and utility plants. Operating on high-voltage 70V and 100V constant-voltage line outputs, the amplifier distributes continuous power over extensive speaker cabling runs without excessive line loss. Its rated power output of 160W RMS (at 10% THD) and 220W maximum capability reliably drives multi-speaker configurations, including wide-dispersion sound projectors and ceiling columns distributed across large facility zones.

For mission-critical plant communications, uninterrupted operation is maintained through dual-power capabilities. The amplifier runs on standard AC mains (220–240V 50/60Hz, 300VA) and features instant automatic changeover to a 24V DC battery power source (they are not included) (operating on 2 × 12V car battery banks (they are not included) drawing 4A) in the event of an electrical grid interruption.

Outdoor Horn Arrays and Acoustic Driver Protection

Perimeter yards, loading docks, and outdoor industrial complexes frequently deploy high-efficiency horn driver units for emergency signaling and clear voice broadcasting across ambient noise. The SSA-160EM features a dedicated Box Speaker / Driver Unit selector switch designed specifically for horn speaker matching. When placed in the Driver Unit position, the internal circuitry defeats low-frequency bass boost, safeguarding horn driver diaphragms and voice coils from low-frequency overload damage.

Installers can further refine speech intelligibility in reverberant or open environments using the integrated tone controls, which provide independent bass adjustment (±10dB at 100Hz) and treble adjustment (±10dB at 10kHz) across an operating frequency response of 50Hz to 15,000Hz (±3dB) with a 60dB signal-to-noise ratio.

Multi-Channel Mixing for Auditoriums, Institutions, and Commercial Spaces

Commercial venues such as training centers, lecture halls, religious institutions, corporate premises, and municipal auditoriums benefit from the unit's comprehensive front-end input stage. The integrated mixer section accommodates up to 5 low-impedance dynamic microphones (0.65mV / 4.7kΩ) and 2 auxiliary audio inputs (100mV / 470kΩ) for background music, playback players, or announcement tone generators. Output regulation remains tight at ≤ 2 dB from no load to full load at 1kHz, preventing volume fluctuation when routing multi-source inputs.

Booster Power Amplifier and System Expansion Deployments

In large-scale public address architectures requiring zone expansion or external signal processing, the SSA-160EM operates as a standalone mixer amplifier or as a slave booster power amplifier. System integrators can utilize the dedicated 1V / 50kΩ Line Input to drive the power amplifier stage directly from the line-level output of an external audio mixing console, DSP processor, or automated evacuation controller.

  • Line Out & Preamp Looping: The unit includes a 200mV / 600Ω Preamplifier Output and a 1V / 1kΩ Line Output to daisy-chain the mixed programme signal to downstream booster power amplifiers or feed external audio recording equipment.
  • Low-Impedance Installations: In addition to 70V and 100V taps, direct 4Ω and 8Ω low-impedance terminals support local foreground speaker clusters requiring lower distortion (140W RMS at 5% THD, 120W RMS at 2% THD).
  • Circuit Protection: A built-in resettable circuit breaker trips automatically during line short circuits or excessive speaker loading, protecting internal electronics from severe field wiring faults.
