Installation, Battery Loading, and Mounting Procedures

Pre-Installation Safety and Hazardous Area Compliance

Before commissioning, handling, or servicing the Pelican StealthLite 2410 task light, plant operators must enforce strict hazardous area compliance. Operating under intrinsic safety standards including Class I, Division 1, Class II, Division 1, Class III, Division 1, and ATEX / IECEx ia Zone classifications, any internal access or battery (they are not included) replacement must occur exclusively in a designated non-hazardous environment. Opening the light body inside an explosive dust, gas, or vapor zone introduces critical ignition hazards. In addition, to prevent static charge generation before entering hazardous plant areas, clean the outer body exclusively with a damp cloth.

Battery Insertion and Contact Module Alignment

The Pelican 2410 operates on a 6.0V DC electrical system supplied by four standard 1.5V AA alkaline batteries (they are not included). For correct polarity, electrical continuity, and proper mechanical seating, adhere to the following sequence:

  • Housing Disassembly: Grasp the protective ABS shroud and turn the polycarbonate (PC) lens housing counter-clockwise until it completely disengages from the EXL body threads.
  • Module Extraction: Carefully withdraw the collimated machined-aluminum LED lamp assembly and the internal contact module incorporating the stainless steel and phosphor bronze contact spring retainers.
  • Cell Installation: Remove spent cells (they are not included) and load four fresh 1.5V AA alkaline batteries (they are not included) strictly matching the polarity diagrams engraved directly onto the exterior of the light body. Do not mix battery (they are not included) brands, do not mix old and new cells (they are not included), and never use NiCad or Zinc-Carbon batteries (they are not included).
  • Hydrogen Catalyst Verification: Inspect the integrated hydrogen gas absorber catalyst pellets positioned within the light cavity. These internal pellets absorb hydrogen off-gassing from heavily depleted or defective batteries (they are not included). If foreign moisture has entered and the pellets are wet, allow them to air dry thoroughly before closure.
  • Component Reinsertion: Reseat the contact module and the machined-aluminum LED lamp assembly squarely back into the flashlight body.

O-Ring Sealing and Enclosure Closure

Preserving the IPX7 waterproof and submersible rating of this 7.00-inch (17.8 cm) flashlight requires careful inspection of the sealing assembly:

  • O-Ring Inspection: Inspect the Ethylene Propylene rubber O-ring (Pelican Cat # 2401) and the mating lens lip for cuts, debris, or distortion. Damaged sealing elements compromise watertight integrity under water pressure.
  • Lubrication: Maintain threads, the O-ring retention groove, and the inside sealing lip of the lens housing with a light application of silicone grease.
  • Clockwise Closure: Place the lens housing over the body threads, press squarely inward to prevent cross-threading, and turn clockwise until firmly seated against the mechanical stop.

Helmet Mounting and Field Deployment

Weighing 3.7 oz (105 g) empty and 7.3 oz (207 g) when fully loaded with batteries (they are not included), the Pelican StealthLite 2410 is designed for handheld or helmet-mounted task inspection. Handheld control relies on the rotational one-handed safety toggle switch, featuring a positive locking on/off mechanism optimized for gloved industrial personnel. To secure the unit during elevated inspections, attach the supplied wrist security lanyard to the integrated lanyard anchor.

For hands-free illumination across industrial environments, the light body integrates directly with the optional Pelican 0770 Helmet Light Holder bracket. The 0770 mount clamps securely to standard industrial hard hats and helmets, directing the 184-meter collimated beam along the technician's line of sight without requiring structural modification of head protection equipment.
