The Ahuja AM-22HSD portable PA megaphone is engineered with versatile power and audio interface configurations, enabling rapid integration into industrial safety protocols, plant security operations, emergency response fleets, and municipal crowd control setups. Designed around high-efficiency Class-D amplification and standardized direct-current (DC) power inputs, the unit functions seamlessly across portable battery-operated and stationary vehicle-powered applications.

Electrical & Power Supply Interfacing

The AM-22HSD utilizes a nominal 12V DC power architecture that supports dual operating configurations depending on deployment mobility and field duty cycles:

  • Internal Dry Cell Configuration: Houses 10 × AA (UM-3) 1.5V pencil cells inside the internal battery compartment, delivering 12V to 15V nominal DC to power the internal Class-D amplifier for approximately 8 to 15 hours of operation, depending on duty cycle and battery chemistry (standard alkaline or heavy-duty cells).
  • External DC Vehicle & Auxiliary Power: Equipped with an external 12V DC input jack compatible with standard 12V to 14V DC vehicle car batteries and external 11.1V lithium-ion battery packs. This allows continuous stationary or vehicle-mounted operation without draining internal AA cells.

The unit features a dedicated audio path matched specifically to an included 600-ohm unidirectional dynamic microphone. This dedicated impedance matching prevents signal distortion and maintains optimal voice clarity across the rated 16W to 20W power envelope (reaching peak outputs up to 22W rated / 28W max). The audio interface system features:

  • Detachable Microphone Assembly: Incorporates a Press-to-Talk (PTT) switch and rotary volume control potentiometer for precise output level calibration.
  • Hand Grip Dual-Switching Circuitry: Allows the operator to mount the microphone into the rear docking slot of the Ø220 mm flare horn and trigger acoustic broadcast directly via the secondary trigger switch integrated into the ergonomic hand grip.
  • Emergency Siren Tone Generator: Built-in acoustic siren circuit compatible with emergency alarm protocols, projecting up to 500 m (and up to 1 km in low-noise environments) for industrial disaster alerts.

Physical Deployment & Transport Compatibility

Constructed with an impact-resistant ABS resin body, the AM-22HSD integrates mechanical mounting and carrying provisions to suit diverse occupational tasks. Heavy-duty eyelet brackets support the included shoulder sling strap for prolonged mobile carrying, while the rear housing includes a secure docking bracket to retain the coiled-cord microphone during single-handed transit or storage.
