High-Speed Highway and Corridor Speed Enforcement
The LTI 20/20 TruCAM II is engineered for precision speed monitoring across arterial roadways, expressways, and high-speed transit corridors. Utilizing a 905 nm nominal wavelength LIDAR beam with a 2.5 mrad beam divergence, the device targets individual vehicles across multi-lane highways without beam-spill interference. It measures velocities from 0 km/h up to 320 km/h for both approaching and departing traffic with an accuracy of ±2 km/h (±1 mph). Operating with a measurement acquisition time of 0.33 seconds and a sampling rate of up to 3 measurements per second, operators can identify and document high-velocity infractions over distances spanning from 15.25 m up to 1,500 m.
Integrated AdapTec technology automatically regulates camera iris, optical focus, and shutter speed. This ensures that clear, tamper-proof video and high-resolution still images of vehicle registration plates and vehicle profiles are captured even under changing environmental lighting conditions.
Tailgating and Following-Too-Closely (DBC) Enforcement
Beyond standard velocity tracking, the TruCAM II incorporates a patented Distance Between Cars (DBC) operational mode designed to mitigate rear-end collision risks on high-density freight and passenger routes. By continuously tracking headway intervals and distance separations with a range accuracy of ±15 cm (±6 inches), enforcement teams can legally document unsafe following distances and aggressive tailgating behavior with indisputable video evidence.
Secondary Infraction Capture: Distracted Driving and Seatbelt Audits
The high-definition imaging capabilities of the TruCAM II permit optical verification of in-cabin secondary violations simultaneously with speed measurement. Through high-magnification optical alignment supported by an internal rigid aluminum chassis, traffic management personnel can record visual evidence of:
- Driver mobile phone use and distracted driving violations while in motion.
- Driver and front-passenger seatbelt non-compliance.
- Commercial fleet driver compliance auditing at toll plazas, weigh stations, and checkpoint entries.
Night-Time, Low-Light, and Adverse Weather Operations
Enforcement operations often demand round-the-clock continuity regardless of environmental obstacles. The TruCAM II supports low-light and nighttime traffic monitoring through a dedicated night filter mode paired with an infrared (IR) illumination link, allowing clear license plate recognition after dusk. In harsh environments, such as heavy rain, fog, or blowing snow, operators can activate the integrated Weather Mode gate. This shifts the minimum target acquisition threshold to 61 m, preventing atmospheric particulate backscatter from distorting laser readings.
Rear Plate and Motorcycle Identification
Traditional fixed front-facing systems frequently fail to identify motorcycles and vehicles lacking front registration plates. The TruCAM II can be operated in departure-direction tracking mode, acquiring velocity data as the target moves away from the operator. The device then records high-resolution visual evidence of the rear license plate, ensuring full accountability across all vehicle classifications.
Stationary, Tripod, and In-Vehicle Field Deployment
The unit supports multiple operational postures in industrial and municipal security workflows:
- Handheld Spot-Checks: Ergonomic field monitoring utilizing the included shoulder stock, 9.4 cm (3.7 inch) trans-reflective daylight-viewable LCD touchscreen, and dual rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs.
- Tripod-Mounted Fixed Observation: Mounted onto standard base screw threads for extended roadside monitoring, speed studies, and industrial perimeter speed enforcement.
- In-Vehicle Patrol Integration: Connected via RS232, RS485, or USB 2.0 communication interfaces for remote vehicle-based monitoring and automated trigger systems.
- Secure Evidentiary Chain of Custody: Violations are cryptographically secured with AES-128 bit tamper-proof encryption and embedded with GPS geo-location metadata before storage on a removable 32 GB Class 10 SD/SDHC card or transmission to mobile Bluetooth/Wi-Fi printers via the tPrint app.
