Field Setup, Mounting Configurations, and Interface Integration

Mounting Configurations and Physical Deployment

The Laser Technology, Inc. (LTI) 20/20 TruCAM II handheld photo and video LIDAR system supports multiple deployment methods to accommodate diverse traffic enforcement scenarios. For standard handheld operation, the system utilizes the ergonomic shoulder stock assembly to ensure mechanical stability during manual aiming and speed capture. The internal rigid aluminum chassis protects the optical alignment of the 905 nm laser transmitter and receiver during active field movement.

For stationary checkpoint operations and automated enforcement zones, the TruCAM II mounts directly to professional tripods using the standard integrated base screw threads. Tripod mounting stabilizes the unit when operating across extended laser measurement ranges up to 1,200 m to 1,500 m. In patrol operations, the system supports in-vehicle mounting configurations, utilizing remote viewing connections and external trigger cabling to initiate captures from within the vehicle cabin.

Hardware Preparation and Power Initialization

Prior to field deployment, assemble and power the device using the supplied commercial accessory bundle:

  • Power Installation: Insert a fully charged rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack into the rear compartment. The unit is supplied with two battery packs and a dedicated 12V charger for field charging via mobile transport or base stations.
  • Storage Media: Insert a Class 10 SD or SDHC removable memory card (up to 32 GB capacity supported) into the sealed card slot. Violation data, video records, and encrypted logs record directly to this card with AES-128 bit tamper-proof encryption.
  • Display & Optical Hood: Attach the detachable sunshade around the 9.4 cm (3.7 inch) trans-reflective daylight-viewable color LCD touchscreen to eliminate high-angle glare in direct sunlight. Use the provided LCD styluses for interface navigation to protect screen integrity.

Interface Connections and External Triggering

The TruCAM II features dedicated physical and wireless communication channels for data transfer, trigger integration, and auxiliary lighting control:

  • RS232 Serial & RS485 Trigger Ports: Connect RS485 interfaces to synchronize external illumination units, such as night-time infrared (IR) light links, or external enforcement controllers.
  • USB 2.0 Interface: Enables direct high-speed wired evidence transfer and system diagnostics with field laptops and back-office management terminals.
  • Wireless & Peripheral Links: Connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to mobile thermal printers utilizing the tPrint application for on-site violation receipt printing.

Environmental Alignment and Optical Configuration

The TruCAM II enclosure meets IP55 and NEMA 4 ingress protection standards for resistance to blowing dust, rain, and environmental debris. When positioning the device in adverse atmospheric conditions such as heavy rainfall, fog, or snow, configure the operating profile to Weather Mode. This sets the internal range acquisition gate to a minimum of 61 meters, bypassing optical clutter and near-field spray. The integrated AdapTec technology automatically regulates camera focus, iris aperture, and shutter speed based on lighting levels, while the integrated GPS receiver automatically embeds exact geo-location coordinates onto every recorded violation file.
