Pre-Installation Site Preparation
The HPC 21 1-Button Token Dispenser Machine features a compact enclosure measuring 25 cm in length, 10 cm in width, and 20 cm in height, constructed from durable ABS plastic. Before mounting or placing the unit, ensure the intended station allows comfortable physical access for visitors interacting with the primary dispensing push button, clear visibility of the 2-line 16x2 alphanumeric display, and unobstructed access for staff to open the direct thermal paper compartment.
Verify that a standard mains power outlet is located within reach of the supplied 9V / 2A DC power adapter. The standard HPC 21 configuration operates via direct external DC power without an internal battery (they are not included), whereas installations deploying the optional HPC 21B hardware variant utilize an integrated 6 to 8 hour battery (they are not included) backup system.
Mounting and Physical Placement
The unit supports two installation orientations out of the box with true plug-and-play architecture requiring no specialized tools or technical training:
- Desktop Counter Placement: Position the unit directly onto a flat, stable customer service desk, reception counter, or intake table. The space-saving footprint requires only a 25 cm by 10 cm clearance area.
- Wall-Mount Installation: For wall mounting at queue entryways, locate the rear mounting slots on the ABS housing. Mark the fixing positions on the wall surface, drill pilot holes, insert the supplied wall plugs, and drive the included mounting screws firmly into position. Align the rear keyholes of the machine over the screw heads and slide down until firmly anchored.
Thermal Paper Roll Loading
The internal printer mechanism utilizes standard 58 mm direct thermal paper rolls and requires no ink cartridges, toners, or thermal transfer ribbons. To load paper:
- Open the top printer access cover on the dispenser housing.
- Insert the supplied 58 mm direct thermal paper roll into the bay using the drop-in loading mechanism, ensuring the thermal coating faces the thermal print head.
- Pull a short tail of paper through the dispenser output slot.
- Firmly close the printer cover until fully seated. Tear away excess paper cleanly across the integrated tear bar.
Electrical Setup and Configuration
Insert the DC barrel jack of the included 9V / 2A DC power adapter into the power input port of the HPC 21 dispenser, then connect the adapter to the mains electrical supply. The 2-line 16x2 character display will illuminate to indicate system initialization.
Connect the supplied detachable programming keypad to the configuration interface on the machine. Using the keypad and the 16x2 alphanumeric display, set the device operating parameters:
- Header and Footer Programming: Program up to 5 custom header lines and 5 custom footer lines to print institutional identifiers, date/time stamps, or instructions on every dispensed slip.
- Department Identification: Program the single push button name or target service department text.
- Security Configuration: Define a supervisor password to secure all programmed parameters, daily/weekly token count report access, and manual override functions against unauthorized tampering.
- Reset Configuration: Confirm the daily automatic token reset schedule (defaulting count back to token 1 each morning) or configure manual reset triggers.
- System Integration: If deploying alongside the HPC 19 wireless token calling queue management system, pair the dispenser following the instructions in the included user manual.
Once setup is finalized, detach and securely store the external keypad to prevent unauthorized operational adjustments during daily counter operation.
