Honeywell Morley-IAS HM-MCP-GLASS-AP Installation & Commissioning Guide

The Honeywell Morley-IAS HM-MCP-GLASS-AP addressable break-glass manual call point utilizes a dedicated 'Plug & Play' installation concept engineered to expedite physical field mounting and simplify termination on analogue addressable loop circuits. Molded from PC/ABS engineering thermoplastic finished in Red (RAL 3001), the unit provides a standardized manual alarm initiation point for compatible Morley-IAS fire alarm control panels.

Mounting Dimensions & Back Box Configurations

The call point accommodates two distinct physical deployment configurations depending on site containment and surface pathways:

  • Semi-Flush Mounting: Configured for semi-flush recessing into standard electrical conduit boxes, the unit presents dimensions of 89 mm (W) x 93 mm (H) x 27.5 mm (D) with a net weight of 130 g.
  • Surface Mounting: For surface-mounted cable installations, the unit couples directly to the dedicated MUS041W manual call point back box. When mounted with this back box, external dimensions measure 89 mm (W) x 93 mm (H) x 59.5 mm (D) with a total assembled weight of 180 g.

Installers must verify that the selected mounting location conforms to the device's operational environment limits: an ambient temperature range of -10°C to 55°C and relative humidity levels between 10% and 93% (non-condensing). The installed assembly provides an IP24D ingress protection rating.

Decade Rotary Address Setting

Loop addressing is implemented mechanically prior to securing the call point into its back box:

  • Device addressing is configured via a rotary decade switch positioned directly on the rear of the HM-MCP-GLASS-AP housing.
  • Using the rotary dials, set the designated decimal address allocated on the Morley-IAS signaling loop schedule.
  • The physical rotary switch mechanism ensures clear visual verification of assigned loop addresses prior to final panel commissioning without requiring electronic handheld programming tools.

Electrical Loop Connections & Limits

The call point draws power directly from the Morley-IAS analogue addressable loop. Field cabling must verify adherence to the following electrical operating thresholds:

  • Operating Voltage Range: 15V to 32V DC maximum.
  • Quiescent Current Consumption: 80 µA at 24V DC under normal standby conditions (no communications).
  • Alarm Current Consumption: 130 µA at 24V DC during active communications.

Testing, Commissioning & Element Servicing

Full functional verification can be achieved without destroying the operating element, fulfilling European standard EN54 Part 11 requirements (approval mark 567av/08):

To test the mechanism, insert the specialist SC070 test key into the access slot at the bottom of the unit. Pushing the key upward mechanically lowers the glass assembly and releases the internal micro-switch, driving an immediate manual fire condition to the Morley-IAS panel.

Loop polling and activation status are confirmed by observing the integrated front-facing LED: during routine standby polling, the LED displays a blinking RED pulse driven by the fire panel; upon activation or test actuation, the LED transitions to a continuous steady RED indication.

After testing, withdraw the SC070 key to reseat the glass assembly and reset the panel. If the standard break glass element is broken during emergency operation, replace it using authentic MUS155 replacement glass elements. For high-traffic or frequent-test applications, the device also accepts field retrofitting with PS230 resettable operating elements.
