System Interoperability & Hardware Compatibility

The Morley-IAS HM-MCP-GLASS-AP addressable manual call point is engineered specifically for seamless communication within Morley-IAS addressable fire detection loops. Operating on an analogue addressable communications protocol, the device delivers precise location signaling and immediate manual alarm generation to Morley-IAS fire alarm control panels. The internal architecture provides verified backward compatibility across existing Morley-IAS addressable systems, allowing systems integrators and facility engineers to deploy the unit in legacy installations as well as modern network extensions without protocol translation hardware.

Loop Signaling and Electrical Compatibility

The unit receives operating power directly from the addressable signaling line circuit (SLC) and operates across an input voltage window of 15V to 32V DC maximum. Designed for low loop loading, the call point draws a quiescent current of 80 µA at 24V DC when idle (without communications) and consumes 130 µA at 24V DC during an active alarm condition with ongoing communications. Loop engineers can accurately budget current draw across heavily populated loops while maintaining rapid panel polling cycles.

Panel-to-device communication is confirmed at the device faceplate through an integral light-emitting diode (LED). The LED is driven directly by the fire alarm control panel logic: it produces a periodic blinking red pulse each time the device is successfully polled over the loop, and shifts to a continuous, steady red illumination when the manual call point is triggered into an active fire alarm condition.

Loop Addressing Architecture

Addressing the HM-MCP-GLASS-AP requires no complex electronic programmers or software routines. The call point features a dedicated rotary decade switch positioned directly on the rear of the device assembly. Technicians configure unique loop decimal addresses mechanically before terminal block insertion, facilitating straightforward verification, maintenance checks, and rapid replacement in the field.

Mounting Hardware & Enclosure Matching

The call point supports both flush and surface mounting environments using standardized mechanical interfaces:

  • Semi-Flush Mounting: Installs into compatible back boxes with finished external dimensions of 89 mm (W) x 93 mm (H) x 27.5 mm (D) and an installed weight of 130 g.
  • Surface Mounting: Mounts via the dedicated MUS041W manual call point back box, resulting in external dimensions of 89 mm (W) x 93 mm (H) x 59.5 mm (D) and a total weight of 180 g.
  • Wiring Concept: Employs an integrated 'Plug & Play' installation concept that decouples initial electrical wiring terminations from final head assembly fitting.

Replacement Elements and Testing Accessories

Field maintenance, routine regulatory testing, and call-point reset procedures are supported through dedicated manufacturer accessories:

Part CodeItem DescriptionPackaging Configuration
MUS155Standard break-glass replacement elementsPack of 5 units
PS230Flexible resettable operational elementsPack of 10 units
SC070Specialist manual call point test keysPack of 10 units

Routine functional audits are conducted without breaking the glass element by inserting the SC070 test key into the base opening of the call point. This mechanical action lowers the glass carriage and releases the internal micro-switch to simulate an active pull condition across the Morley-IAS addressable loop.
