Installation and Wiring Guide for Hikvision DS-KIS205T

Physical Mounting and Station Placement

The Hikvision DS-KIS205T system is engineered for surface wall mounting of both the indoor and outdoor hardware components. The outdoor calling station features a compact footprint of 128 mm × 42 mm × 24.8 mm and is housed in an antioxidant zinc alloy enclosure meeting IP65 weather resistance and IK7 impact standards. Mount the outdoor panel securely to a flat vertical surface at access entry points, taking into account the optical coverage of the 2MP Full HD 1/2.7-inch CMOS sensor, which delivers a horizontal field of view of 66.2° and a vertical field of view of 37.2°. Position the station to maintain a clear line of sight for the integrated infrared (IR) illuminator during night operations.

The indoor station measures 195.8 mm × 132.8 mm × 18.39 mm (7.7" × 5.2" × 0.7") and is designed for internal surface wall mounting. Install the indoor unit within an environment maintaining the rated operating temperature range of -10° C to +55° C (14° F to 131° F). To prevent acoustic feedback, ensure that the indoor monitor and the outdoor door station are not installed in immediate physical or acoustic proximity across thin partitions.

4-Wire Interconnect Cable Specifications

Interconnection between stations utilizes a dedicated 4-wire bus infrastructure. The multi-core bus assigns dedicated lines to four discrete operational circuits: 1-channel video signal input, 1-channel bidirectional audio input/output, 1-channel 12 VDC power distribution, and 1-channel electrical grounding. Selecting the correct RVV4 copper conductor gauge is essential to mitigate signal degradation, screen flickering, and line noise over distance.

Transmission Distance (TD)Required RVV4 Cable Conductor Size
Transmission distance ≤ 10 mRVV4 0.2 mm²
10 m RVV4 0.5 mm²
30 m RVV4 0.75 mm²
50 m RVV4 1.5 mm²

System Topology and Expansion Architecture

The DS-KIS205T hardware architecture supports scalable configurations to accommodate multi-door and multi-room premises. When laying out the deployment, note the following capacity limits:

  • Outdoor Door Panels: Supports up to 2 outdoor calling stations connected simultaneously.
  • Access Release Control: Each outdoor calling panel provides connectivity for 1 electric door lock.
  • Indoor Displays: The bus topology supports linking up to 3 physical indoor monitors with 7-inch TFT LCD screens.
  • Supplemental Surveillance: Each indoor monitor station includes dedicated input terminals to integrate 1 external analog CCTV camera for expanded visual screening.

Power Wiring, Calibration, and Commissioning

Power is routed to the setup using the supplied 12 VDC external power adapter. The indoor monitor station is engineered for energy-efficient deployment with a maximum power consumption rating of ≤ 5 W. Once the 4-wire terminations and 12 VDC power connections are secured, activate the system to perform functional checks.

Verify video clarity from the 1080p stream on the 7-inch TFT display. Use the integrated hardware controls on the indoor station to calibrate brightness, contrast, ringtone, and audio volume. When calibrating the two-way intercom, adjust the volume potentiometer below peak gain thresholds to maintain clean full-duplex communication through the built-in omnidirectional microphones and loudspeakers without inducing audio loopback. Test the physical push buttons to confirm snapshot capture into the 200-image internal memory as well as trigger signal operation to the connected electric lock.
