System Topology and Device Expansion Capacity
The Hikvision DS-KIS205T 4-wire analog intercom kit is engineered with a scalable architecture tailored for standalone residences, villas, and small office access points. In multi-point entry installations, the system supports a maximum expansion limit of up to two outdoor door calling panels and up to three interconnected 7-inch indoor monitor stations. This configuration allows property operators to manage multiple entry perimeter gates from multiple indoor locations without requiring active IP network switches.
Electric Lock and Gate Release Integration
The system provides dedicated physical lock control interfaces directly through the outdoor door stations. Each outdoor calling station incorporates hardware connectivity to drive one electric door lock or release mechanism. Across a maximum two-station setup, the platform supports up to two independently triggered electric locks, enabling access release commands to be sent directly from the physical push buttons on any of the indoor monitor stations.
Supplemental Analog CCTV Camera Integration
To enhance situational awareness beyond the fixed 66.2° horizontal and 37.2° vertical optical field of view of the 2MP outdoor station, each indoor monitor includes a dedicated video input port for an auxiliary camera. Each indoor monitor supports the connection of one external analog CCTV camera. In a fully expanded deployment with three indoor units, up to three separate analog CCTV cameras can be integrated across the system, allowing operators to monitor supplemental surveillance angles directly from the indoor LCD displays.
4-Wire Transmission Interface and Cabling Distance Limits
Communication between system nodes relies on a 4-wire bus architecture that consolidates four critical operational channels: one channel for video input, one channel for audio input and output, one channel for DC power distribution, and one channel for system grounding. Signal integrity and transmission distance are directly governed by the cross-sectional area of the multi-conductor copper cabling (RVV4 standard):
- Transmission Distance ≤ 10 m: Compatible with RVV4 cable having a conductor cross-section of 0.2 mm².
- Transmission Distance 10 m to 30 m: Requires RVV4 multi-core cable with a minimum conductor cross-section of 0.5 mm².
- Transmission Distance 30 m to 50 m: Requires RVV4 cable with a conductor cross-section of at least 0.75 mm² to prevent video signal degradation and line noise.
- Transmission Distance 50 m to 100 m: Demands heavy-gauge RVV4 cable with a 1.5 mm² cross-section to maintain composite video stability and sufficient voltage delivery across the maximum line span.
Power Infrastructure and Environmental Compatibility
The intercom system operates on a centralized 12 VDC power supply infrastructure. The 7-inch indoor monitor station maintains an energy-efficient power draw rated at ≤ 5 W during active operation. The indoor station operates reliably within ambient temperatures ranging from -10° C to +55° C (14° F to 131° F). The outdoor calling panel features an antioxidant zinc alloy enclosure engineered to meet IEC 60529 IP65 water and dust ingress protection along with IEC 62262 IK7 mechanical impact resistance, ensuring physical compatibility with external exposed wall-mount installations.
