Pre-Installation Safety and Preparation
Before initiating physical mounting or terminal wiring of the Hikvision DS-KIS202T intercom bundle, isolate the 12 VDC power source and confirm that all connected equipment is completely de-energized. Terminating or adjusting wiring on live circuits can lead to hardware malfunction. All exposed, bare conductor leads must be insulated using electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing prior to final assembly to avoid short circuits.
Both the DS-KB2411T-IM door station and the DS-KH2220 indoor station operate on a 12 VDC power supply. Power consumption is rated at a maximum of 5 W for the door station and ≤5 W for the indoor station. Both units are rated for deployment in operating environments ranging from -10°C to +55°C (14°F to 131°F) with relative humidity between 10% and 90% (non-condensing).
Cable Selection and Transmission Distance Limits
Signal integrity, video clarity, and audio gain depend entirely on maintaining correct conductor diameter across the transmission path. For wiring runs extending beyond the included 5-meter 4-wire cable, multi-conductor RVV4 cabling must be specified according to the total transmission distance (TD) between stations:
| Transmission Distance (TD) |
Required RVV4 Cable Gauge |
| TD ≤ 10 m |
RVV4 × 0.2 mm² |
| 10 m
| RVV4 × 0.5 mm² |
| 30 m
| RVV4 × 0.75 mm² |
| 50 m
| RVV4 × 1.5 mm² |
Exceeding the 100-meter threshold or deploying undersized wire gauges can lead to video signal degradation, monitor image flickering, and poor transmission volume.
4-Wire Interface Pinout and Polarity Rules
The interconnect bus linking the indoor station to the door station requires four specific functional lines:
- 1-Channel Video Input: Carries the 1920 × 1080 resolution analog video stream from the camera sensor to the monitor.
- 1-Channel Audio Input/Output: Bi-directional audio line connecting the integrated microphone and loudspeaker system.
- 1-Channel Power Supply: Delivers operational 12 VDC driving voltage across the station link.
- 1-Channel Grounding: Common reference ground for power and analog signaling.
Field wiring must strictly observe terminal designations. Connecting the positive 12 VDC power conductor directly to the video (V) terminal pin or the audio (A) terminal pin will cause severe internal hardware damage and permanently burn out station circuitry.
Station Mounting Guidelines
The DS-KH2220 indoor station features physical dimensions of 195.8 mm × 132.8 mm × 18.39 mm. It supports surface wall mounting via its dedicated wall mounting plate. The mounting plate can be fastened directly to masonry or drywall, or anchored over a standard in-wall junction box depending on structural conduit routing.
The DS-KB2411T-IM outdoor door station has dimensions of 128 mm × 42 mm × 24.8 mm and is housed in an aluminum alloy enclosure. Mount the outdoor station at entry height to optimize the camera lens coverage, which provides a 66.2° horizontal and 37.2° vertical field of view.
Electronic Lock and Auxiliary Expansion Wiring
The DS-KB2411T-IM door station provides 1 built-in relay output for access latch control. The relay serves strictly as a dry contact switch. To actuate an electric bolt, magnetic lock, or electric strike, an independent external power supply must be integrated into the lock loop circuit. Attempting to power an electric lock directly from the door station terminals without an external power source will result in failure to unlatch.
System topology supports scaling beyond the baseline pair: up to 2 door stations and up to 3 indoor stations can be connected simultaneously across the four-wire intercom architecture. Additionally, the DS-KH2220 indoor monitor includes an auxiliary analog camera port, allowing direct connection of an external analog CCTV camera for supplemental visual monitoring.
