Installation, Wiring, and Commissioning Guide

Mechanical Mounting and Dimensions

The Hikvision DS-KH8520-WTE1 (KT Automation stock reference KTI20001001HI10) is engineered for surface mounting on vertical indoor walls. Alternatively, the station can be deployed on flat surfaces utilizing the optional DS-KABH6320-T indoor station table bracket. The physical footprint measures 254 mm (10.0 inches) in width, 166 mm (6.5 inches) in height, and 22.55 mm (0.89 inches) in depth, with a net device weight of 660 g (gross shipping weight is 1118 g). When preparing the mounting location, allow adequate wall clearance around the chassis perimeter to ensure unobstructed audio output from the built-in loudspeaker and clean capture across the built-in omnidirectional microphone.

Installers should position the indoor unit within standard operational indoor environments, ensuring environmental conditions remain strictly within the specified working temperature range of -10 °C to 55 °C (14 °F to 131 °F) and working humidity levels of 10% to 90% non-condensing. The hardware requires no internal dry cells or back-up batteries (they are not included), drawing power solely through network or direct low-voltage cabling.

Power Infrastructure and Electrical Termination

System integrators have two options for powering the DS-KH8520-WTE1:

  • Power over Ethernet (PoE): IEEE 802.3af standard PoE delivered directly through the RJ-45 Ethernet network connection, simplifying wiring runs across enterprise or residential structured cabling.
  • Direct Auxiliary DC Supply: A 12 VDC / 1 A feed terminated at the onboard power interface. Integrators can utilize optional external power adapters such as the DS-KAW50-1 (50 W, 12 VDC) or DS-KAW50-1N (50 W, 12 VDC).

The unit maintains a maximum power consumption rating of ≤6 W, keeping heat generation low and ensuring compatibility with centralized low-voltage DC power grids or multi-port PoE network switches.

I/O Interfaces and Peripheral Cabling

Field wiring routes directly into the station’s comprehensive terminal interface array. The unit supports integration with local intrusion sensors, panic buttons, and door monitors via 8-channel alarm inputs. For automated physical signaling, relay tripping, or siren activation, the station includes 2 alarm outputs. A dedicated RS-485 serial communication port provides connectivity for serial devices and elevator access control subsystems. For local image capture and voice message storage, the integrated TF memory card slot accommodates standard micro-SD media up to 128 GB (supporting SD 2.0 or lower specifications).

Network Integration and On-Screen Setup

Network connectivity can be established via the onboard 10/100 Mbps self-adaptive RJ-45 interface or via wireless Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n infrastructure. All standard network communications utilize TCP/IP, SIP, and RTSP protocols. Commissioning does not require an external laptop or PC software utility; technicians can execute the complete configuration workflow directly on the 10.1-inch TFT capacitive touch screen (1024 × 600 resolution) using the embedded setup wizard running on the station's Embedded Linux OS.

Through this interface, field engineers can bind up to 17 linked door stations (such as the DS-KD8003-IME1/Flush modular unit or DS-KD9613-FE6 facial recognition station), up to 16 linked IP cameras (IPCs) for public area monitoring, and up to 16 linked indoor sub-stations/extensions. Following local network configuration, the unit connects directly to the Hik-Connect mobile application for remote multi-tenant calling, push notifications, and remote door release.
