Hikvision DS-KH8520-WTE1 System Compatibility & Network Interoperability

The Hikvision DS-KH8520-WTE1 (KT stock reference KTI20001001HI10) is an IP-based KH8 Series indoor station engineered for integration within multi-tenant residential apartment complexes, commercial facilities, and residential villa intercom architectures. Operating on an Embedded Linux platform, the terminal functions as a central control and monitoring endpoint across local IP networks, integrating directly with entry door stations, surveillance cameras, alarm sensors, and building automation subsystems.

Network Protocol Standards and Transmission Interfaces

The unit integrates into structured IP environments utilizing industry-standard network communication protocols, specifically TCP/IP, SIP, and RTSP. Physical network attachment is established via a single self-adaptive 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 Ethernet interface. For wireless deployments or retrofits where physical Ethernet drops are unavailable, the station features an integrated IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi transceiver operating across standard wireless infrastructure.

Network video streaming utilizes standard RTSP transport to support seamless live viewing from interconnected IP cameras and exterior door stations. Audio streams interface via ITU-T G.711 U-law audio compression operating at a 64 Kbps bitrate, backed by onboard hardware noise suppression and echo cancellation for full-duplex speech transmission.

System Expansion Limits and Connected Hardware Capacities

Designed for scalable deployments, the DS-KH8520-WTE1 supports substantial multi-device linking capabilities without requiring dedicated PC management servers:

  • Door Stations: Supports integration with up to 17 linked door stations (doorphones) for call answering, live video monitoring, and remote door unlock release.
  • Surveillance Cameras: Supports live-view streaming for up to 16 linked IP cameras (IPCs) installed in public areas and perimeter zones.
  • Indoor Extensions: Connects with up to 16 linked indoor sub-stations or extension units within the same residence or building system.
  • Information Notices: Maintains onboard memory capacity to store and display up to 200 system notices broadcast from management platforms.
  • Elevator Access Integration: Supports operational linkage with elevator access control systems to grant floor permissions upon visitor verification.

Alarm System Integration & Hardwired Peripheral Interfaces

To serve as an in-residence security interface, the DS-KH8520-WTE1 incorporates an 8-channel hardwired alarm input block. These inputs link directly to intrusion, perimeter, or environmental sensors, routing alarm triggers across the network to alert monitoring stations and management centers. For local automation and third-party signaling, the terminal provides 2 alarm relay outputs alongside a dedicated RS-485 serial communication port.

Power Infrastructure and Verified Accessory Compatibility

System integrators can power the station using standard IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) routed through the primary network switch port, or via an auxiliary 12 VDC, 1 A power supply interface (maximum operational power consumption ≤ 6 W). The station operates without internal batteries (they are not included). Local media capture, voice message storage, and image caching are supported through an onboard TF (microSD) card slot supporting memory capacities up to 128 GB (SD version 2.0 or lower).

Remote mobile monitoring and access control are handled via the Hik-Connect mobile application, enabling users to answer calls, view camera feeds, and trigger door strikes remotely over mobile data networks. Complete system commissioning and addressing can be executed directly on the 10.1-inch capacitive touch screen via the onboard configuration wizard without requiring a separate PC setup terminal.
