eSSL SB-ES-3216 Installation, Wiring & Commissioning Guide

Proper site preparation and mechanical placement are critical to ensuring the longevity and transit safety of the eSSL SB-ES-3216 Single Lane Swing Barrier. The barrier features a brushed 304 stainless steel cabinet measuring 1400 mm in length, 160 mm in width, and 980 mm in height. Installers must lay out the pedestrian lane to support an adjustable passage width between 600 mm and 900 mm, allowing sufficient clearance for standard pedestrian flows as well as wheelchair and large baggage accessibility.

Site Planning and Environmental Requirements

The cabinet enclosure provides an IP4X class of protection, engineered for deployment in indoor environments such as corporate lobbies, government facilities, transit stations, and IT parks. The operating ambient temperature must remain between -20°C and +70°C, with non-condensing relative humidity levels not exceeding 90%. Verify that the mounting surface is level and capable of structurally securing the brushed 304 stainless steel fuselage, which is constructed with a 1.2 mm top cover and 0.9 mm body plate.

Sensor Alignment and Physical Clearance

The SB-ES-3216 incorporates 6 pairs of infrared sensors along the transit path to handle pedestrian tracking, anti-tailgating logic, anti-reverse pass detection, and infrared anti-clip protection. Proper alignment across the lane is required during physical installation:

  • Ensure unobstructed optical line-of-sight between the transmitter and receiver positions across the 600 mm to 900 mm passage width.
  • Verify that the 8 mm clear acrylic diaphragm wing and 10 mm clear acrylic baffle swing freely without mechanical obstruction during full 90-degree travel.
  • Position the lane away from high-intensity reflective surfaces that could interfere with the 6 pairs of infrared sensors.

Electrical Power Supply and Internal Architecture

The internal control assembly houses a 12V brushless simplified board, an electric control box, and a mesh board box, which operate alongside an integrated brushless swing brake movement and a Fengdun DC brushless 90K 30W drive motor. Power wiring requirements include:

  • Input Voltage: AC 100V to 240V, 50/60 Hz mains service.
  • Internal Power Supply: 24V 150W regulated power unit.
  • Operational Power Consumption: 55W rated equipment load.
  • Operating Noise Threshold: ≤65 dB during active wing motion.

Access Control & Peripheral Integration

The barrier operates via dry contact communication interfaces, allowing straightforward integration with third-party access controllers. The dry contact inputs connect directly to IC card readers, ID card readers, barcode or QR code scanners, and facial recognition terminals. Verify signal status through the integrated three-color light panel and three-color indicator light strip to confirm authorization indications and transit direction.

Parameter Configuration and Safety Commissioning

Once wired, technicians can commission system behavior according to site access policies:

  • Operating Mode: Select between normally closed mode (throughput up to 35 people per minute) or normally open mode (throughput up to 50 people per minute).
  • Pass Logic: Configure for one-way card reading or two-way card reading operation.
  • Memory Function: Set card authorization logic to operate "with memory" for rapid sequential tapping or "without memory" for single-transit verification.
  • Swing Timing: Adjust the wing opening and closing speed between 0.5 seconds and 1.5 seconds.
  • Automatic Reset: Confirm the timeout lockout mechanism automatically restores the barrier to a locked state if passage does not occur within the preset transit window.
  • Emergency Egress: Test the fire-fighting safety release to ensure the barrier arms open automatically under a power-off state to provide clear emergency egress.
