eSSL EAS-AM-88 Slave Pedestal Installation and Integration Guidelines

Architectural Placement and Aisle Spacing

The eSSL EAS-AM-88 slave antenna pedestal is engineered for floor-standing installation across retail entrance and exit aisles, checkout corridors, and access checkpoints. With individual pedestal dimensions measuring 1630 mm (H) by 470 mm (W) by 25 mm (D) and a solid net unit weight of 26 kg, the physical footprint allows streamlined floor integration without obstructing patron movement.

Correct spacing between the primary master antenna unit and this slave pedestal must be determined based on the anti-theft tagging media deployed in the retail environment:

  • DR Soft Label Aisle Width: Maintain a corridor span of 150 cm to 180 cm between antennas for reliable detection of acousto-magnetic soft labels.
  • Hard Tag Aisle Span: Provide an open exit width between 1.8 m and 2.4 m when operating with standard 58 kHz hard tags and lanyard tags.

Anchoring must be executed onto a flat, stable floor base. Proper mechanical anchoring prevents physical displacement and protects internal cabling within high-throughput retail stores, apparel boutiques, supermarkets, pharmacies, libraries, and consumer electronics facilities.

Master-Slave Interconnection and Electrical Specifications

As a dedicated slave unit within the EAS-AM-88 Master/Slave architecture, this pedestal is driven directly by the paired eSSL EAS-AM-88 master controller unit. Interconnecting wiring must be laid through clean underfloor conduits or threshold cable raceways before securing the pedestal base.

  • System Supply Voltage: Operates within a standard 110 V to 220 V AC electrical input envelope.
  • Antenna Work Rate: Individual antenna consumption is rated at 25 W (with system total maximum power consumption at 200 W).
  • Electrical Link: Interfaces through a dedicated 24 V, 3 A output provided by the primary master controller.
  • Operating Resonance: Calibrated to operate strictly at 58 kHz frequency.

Environmental and Site Mounting Conditions

Field installations should observe ambient facility requirements to ensure baseline stability and equipment longevity:

  • Operating Temperature Envelope: Rated for stable operation from -5°C to 50°C.
  • Pedestal Build: Constructed with a gray fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) frame engineered for physical resilience against everyday shopper contact.
  • Unpacking and Handling: Supplied in transit packaging measuring 1700 mm x 530 mm x 280 mm with a gross package weight of 29 kg. Unpack vertically to safeguard the internal loop antennas.

DSP Calibration and Alarm Commissioning

Following floor anchoring and cable termination to the master antenna, the EAS-AM-88 slave unit must be calibrated to the site's electromagnetic environment:

Integrators must utilize the software-based anti-interference tuning features driven by the system's Digital Signal Processing (DSP) smart chip kernel. Software adjustments isolate ambient electrical noise from surrounding retail infrastructure and calibrate signal analysis sensitivity.

During final commissioning, verify both audiovisual alarm functions: adjust the internal buzzer volume to suit the ambient noise level of the store entrance, and test the trigger responsiveness of the integrated customizable flashing LED visual alarm indicators across the entire 150 cm to 2.4 m detection boundary.
