eSSL EAS-AM-88 Master/Slave System Architecture
The eSSL EAS-AM-88 slave pedestal is designed specifically to integrate into an Acousto-Magnetic (AM) Master/Slave electronic article surveillance deployment. Operating as a secondary transceiver pedestal, this slave unit connects directly to and is driven by an eSSL EAS-AM-88 master antenna controller. The master unit provides the primary control signaling, power regulation, and signal processing required to drive the slave pedestal in a coordinated multi-aisle or dual-pedestal configuration.
The system operates across a universal operating voltage of 110 V to 220 V AC, supporting a dedicated electrical output of 24 V, 3 A. While the entire multi-pedestal system consumes up to 200 W maximum, the individual work rate of this antenna unit is rated at 25 W. Internal processing is managed through Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology featuring an upgraded smart chip with extensive kernel signal analysis, ensuring synchronized pulsing between master and slave pedestals without mutual phase cancellation.
Acousto-Magnetic Tag and Label Compatibility
Operating precisely at a 58 kHz transmission and receiving frequency, this pedestal is universally compatible with industry-standard 58 kHz Acousto-Magnetic security hardware. Tag detection ranges are contingent upon transponder form factor and acoustic resonance characteristics:
- 58 kHz DR Soft Labels: Supports reliable aisle detection across spans of 150 cm to 180 cm. Ideal for source-tagged packaged retail goods, pharmaceuticals, and barcoded merchandise requiring non-reusable deactivatable labels.
- 58 kHz AM Hard Tags: Achieves an extended detection range between 1.8 m and 2.4 m when paired with standard reusable hard tags, facilitating wider aisle spacing at primary retail entrances.
- 58 kHz AM Lanyard Tags: Fully compatible with 58 kHz lanyard transponders engineered for boxed items, footwear, fashion accessories, and soft goods.
Aisle Spacing, Mounting, and Environmental Compatibility
Physical installation requires floor-standing pedestal positioning at store entrances, checkout lines, and exit aisles. Measuring 1630 mm in height, 470 mm in width, and 25 mm in depth, the slim profile of the fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) frame ensures lane compliance without restricting customer traffic. System positioning between the master pedestal and this slave unit must be planned in accordance with the smallest transponder in active circulation: aisle widths must not exceed 150 cm to 180 cm when DR labels are utilized, or up to 2.4 m when using standard AM hard tags.
To overcome structural and ambient electromagnetic noise, the antenna supports software-based anti-interference tuning and adjustment for site calibration. Built with an operating temperature window of -5°C to 50°C, the pedestal is suitable for climate-controlled retail spaces as well as semi-conditioned vestibules. Alarms are communicated through integrated customizable flashing LED visual indicators and an adjustable-volume internal buzzer, allowing loss prevention teams to tune notification thresholds to the specific acoustics of the retail environment.
Compatible Commercial Environments
The 58 kHz AM operating architecture is engineered for loss prevention across diverse commercial and retail formats:
- Apparel Boutiques & Clothing Stores: Broad exit coverage utilizing high-gain 58 kHz hard tags and lanyard pin assemblies.
- Supermarkets & Department Stores: High-traffic exit aisles calibrated for rapid detection of consumable goods protected with 58 kHz DR soft labels.
- Pharmacies & Drugstores: Compact aisle-end detection capable of identifying miniature acoustic transponders on cosmetic and medicinal packaging.
- Consumer Electronics Stores & Libraries: Kernel-driven DSP filtering designed to minimize false alarms near media racks, display fixtures, and electronics checkout terminals.
