eSSL AiFace - Mars Installation and Peripheral Integration

The eSSL AiFace - Mars (KT Ref: KTI01002003AFMR) is an industrial Linux-based biometric terminal engineered for surface wall mounting at access-controlled doorways, turnstiles, and workforce ingress points. The physical terminal enclosure features dimensions of 91.93 mm (W) x 202.93 mm (H) x 21.5 mm (D) with a casing footprint reaching up to 91.97 mm x 202.97 mm x 22.5 mm. Secure mounting against a rigid vertical surface is mandatory to ensure proper engagement of the integrated hardware tamper switch. The rear tamper switch continuously monitors contact against the wall plate and triggers an alarm output if unauthorized detachment occurs.

Physical Mounting and Optical Alignment

When positioning the terminal, installers must optimize placement for the integrated 2MP WDR low-light camera and 5-inch touch screen. The visible light facial recognition optical system operates at a detection distance of up to 2 meters with an extra-wide pose acceptance angle of +/- 30 degrees. Mounting at standard chest-to-eye height ensures comprehensive coverage across varying user heights within the 2-meter envelope. While the dual-camera array incorporates adjustable light brightness LEDs and wide dynamic range compensation, avoid pointing the terminal toward unshaded exterior glass entryways that subject users to extreme backlighting. Site operating temperatures must be maintained between -10 °C and 45 °C with non-condensing relative humidity between 10% and 90%.

Power Supply Requirements

The AiFace - Mars requires a dedicated, regulated DC 12V 3A external power supply. Because this catalog model (KTI01002003AFMR) is supplied without an internal battery (they are not included), the terminal depends entirely on external DC power. For uninterrupted operation during mains electrical failures, power cabling must originate from an external centralized power supply cabinet with battery backup (they are not included). Maintain adequate wire gauge over extended cable runs to prevent voltage drops below the 12V DC operating threshold.

Access Control Hardware Wiring

The terminal features an integrated access control interface terminal block that connects directly to door hardware and supervisory sensors:

  • 3rd-Party Electric Lock: Dedicated relay terminals switch power to 3rd-party electromagnetic locks, electric strikes, or drop bolts.
  • Door Sensor: Monitors dry-contact magnetic reed switches to identify door position and report unauthorized door-ajar or forced-entry states.
  • Exit Button: Normally-open input terminals interface directly with request-to-exit push buttons.
  • Alarm Output & Auxiliary Input: Relay contacts support connection to external annunciators or upstream alarm systems alongside auxiliary signal detection.

Network and Data Communication Architecture

Network integration is achieved via a standard TCP/IP RJ45 Ethernet port for direct LAN connectivity and synchronized communication with eSSL eTimeTracklite attendance management software. For panel-based controller architectures, an onboard RS485 interface allows multi-drop wiring to master security systems. The terminal also provides bidirectional Wiegand input and output interfaces. The Wiegand input allows connection of external slave card readers (compatible with 125 kHz ID or 13.56 MHz IC card modules), while the Wiegand output transmits verified 9-digit user IDs to third-party access control panels. Centralized multi-branch deployments can leverage the terminal's native ADMS (Automatic Data Master Server) protocol over Ethernet or optional Wi-Fi for automated data push to centralized servers.
