Receiver Placement and Mechanical Setup
The Ahuja AWM-700U2 dual-channel UHF tabletop receiver features a compact chassis measuring 210 mm (W) × 47 mm (H) × 165 mm (D) with an approximate weight of 0.42 kg. Position the receiver unit on a flat, stable tabletop surface, equipment shelf, or rack tray. To ensure optimal reception across the 630 MHz to 664 MHz UHF operating band, maintain direct line-of-sight between the receiver front panel and the operating area of the handheld transmitters. Avoid enclosing the receiver inside fully sealed metal cabinets or placing it in direct proximity to large metallic obstructions, digital signal processors, or power transformers that could induce RF attenuation or electromagnetic interference.
Electrical Power and Transmitter Battery Installation
Power to the tabletop receiver is supplied by connecting the included external AC adapter to a standard 220V–240V AC, 50 Hz mains outlet and inserting the 12V DC barrel plug into the DC input jack located on the rear panel of the receiver.
Each Ahuja AWM-700U2 handheld dynamic microphone measures 55 mm in diameter by 250 mm in length and weighs 0.22 kg without cells. To prepare the handheld transmitters for service, unscrew the lower battery housing compartment of each microphone. Insert 2 × 1.5V AA pencil cells (they are not included) into each transmitter sleeve, strictly observing the polarity markings indicated inside the chamber. Each transmitter draws under 150 mA at 3V DC. Securely screw the battery compartment sleeve back into place before switching on the unit.
Audio Output Interfacing and Routing
The AWM-700U2 receiver provides flexible audio interfacing options to match public address amplifiers, commercial mixing consoles, and audio distribution equipment:
- Individual Balanced Outputs (3-Pin XLR): For professional multi-channel audio mixers, connect balanced 3-pin XLR audio cables from the individual Channel A and Channel B XLR output jacks on the rear panel to separate microphone/line mixer channels. Nominal output level is 0 dBu, allowing independent equalization, level trim, and channel muting per microphone.
- Mixed Unbalanced Output (6.35 mm Phone Jack): For PA amplifiers or active speakers with a single auxiliary or microphone input, connect a standard 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) mono patch cable from the mixed audio output jack to the amplifier input. Nominal unbalanced output level is -10 dBu, combining Channel A and Channel B into a single summed audio feed.
Commissioning Procedure and Gain Calibration
Follow this systematic startup procedure to commission the wireless system:
- Ensure all amplifier master faders and input channel gains are fully attenuated before powering on equipment.
- Turn on the receiver power switch and verify that the front-panel channel frequency displays illuminate.
- Slide the power switch on each handheld dynamic transmitter to the ON position. Verify that the transmitter frequency display matches the assigned factory-set frequency pair on the corresponding receiver channel.
- Confirm RF reception by observing the dedicated RF signal indicator LEDs on the receiver front panel for Channel A and Channel B.
- Perform a voice test into the dynamic cardioid capsule (50 Hz to 15,000 Hz response). Observe the AF signal LEDs on the receiver panel to verify incoming audio modulation.
- Adjust the independent rotary volume controls for Channel A and Channel B on the receiver front panel to balance signal strength without exceeding 1% total harmonic distortion (THD), delivering a clean 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio output to downstream PA amplification.
