Installation and Site Deployment Guide for ZKTeco ZKX6550A

Proper deployment of the ZKTeco ZKX6550A single-energy X-ray baggage inspection system requires systematic site preparation, dimensional clearance planning, power provisioning, and network connectivity configuration. Designed for high-throughput checkpoint environments such as transportation hubs, commercial buildings, hotels, and government facilities, the system is installed as a multi-component assembly comprising the primary inspection tunnel chassis and an independent operator console workstation.

Physical Footprint and Space Planning

Site layout planning must accommodate the physical dimensions and service clearance zones of the system components:

  • Main Scanner Dimensions: 2120 mm (L) × 980 mm (W) × 1381 mm (H).
  • Packaging / Delivery Dimensions: 2240 mm (L) × 1170 mm (W) × 1755 mm (H) for passage through facility ingress pathways.
  • Inspection Tunnel Opening: 655 mm (W) × 505 mm (H), with an integrated conveyor transmission belt height of 700 mm from the floor.
  • Gross System Weights: 640 kg for the scanner unit chassis plus 100 kg for the operator console desk (740 kg total shipping mass). Site floors and handling equipment must be rated to support this distributed load.
  • Conveyor Load Tolerance: The conveyor belt handles a maximum evenly distributed load capacity of ≥180 kg at a travel speed of 0.20 m/s.

Power Infrastructure and Environmental Requirements

Before positioning the equipment, ensure the electrical supply meets the operational specifications:

  • Power Consumption: System rated power load is 1 kVA.
  • Thermal and Generator Management: The X-ray generator operates with a tube voltage rating of 80 kV (or 100 kV nominal rating) and utilizes a 100% sealed oil cooling architecture, requiring stable ambient air circulation around the cabinet vents during continuous duty cycles.
  • Acoustic Profile: Operating acoustic noise levels are rated at 53.8 dB(A), making the unit suitable for indoor checkpoint placement without exceeding noise safety thresholds.

Operator Console and Network Setup

The system features a separate, movable operator console desk measuring 830 mm (L) × 800 mm (W) × 1330 mm (H). During installation:

  • Position the console within sight of the inspection conveyor to allow direct line-of-sight supervision.
  • Connect the included 21.5-inch LED display monitor and dedicated operator control interface to the main cabinet.
  • Establish data and network connectivity via the integrated RJ45 (TCP/IP) ethernet interface to interface with the ZKTeco ZKBio SIS security inspection management platform and centralized networks.

Radiation Safety Baseline and Accessory Configuration

During commissioning, verify all radiation boundaries and safety certifications. The ZKTeco ZKX6550A maintains an external radiation leakage rate of 0.1 µGy/h (measured at 5 cm from outer surfaces) and a single-inspection dosage rate of ≤1.0 µGy, meeting CE-EMC, CE-MD, FCC sDOC, FDA radiation cabinet standards, and ASA/ISO 1600 film safety thresholds. Field engineers can also connect optional modular extensions during installation, such as bi-directional scanning modules, video surveillance kits, electrical baggage weighing platforms, energy-saving auto-start modes, and ultrasonic rat repellent units.
