Site Preparation, Electrical Integration, and Deployment Guide for ZKTeco ZKX6550

Physical Space and Rigging Requirements

Proper physical site planning is essential prior to uncrating and deploying the ZKTeco ZKX6550 dual-energy X-ray security inspection system. Facility planners must ensure all entryways, elevators, corridors, and staging zones accommodate the crated package dimensions of 2235 mm in length, 1160 mm in width, and 1700 mm in height. The gross scanner weight is 530 kg, requiring certified mechanical handling equipment—such as heavy-duty pallet trucks, forklifts, or machinery skates—rated to safely maneuver the unit to its final operating location.

When positioning the inspection tunnel, site managers must allow sufficient operational clearance at both the conveyor entry and exit ends. The inspection tunnel provides an opening of 660 mm (W) x 510 mm (H) with a conveyor transmission belt height positioned at 710 mm from the finished floor level. The continuous conveyor belt operates at 0.20 m/s and is engineered to support a maximum evenly distributed load of at least 200 kg. If deploying the optional bidirectional scanning configuration or integrated electrical weighing systems, ensure that clear run-off zones are established on either side to maintain unobstructed passenger and parcel throughput.

Operator Console Setup and Ergonomic Placement

The ZKTeco ZKX6550 features a standalone, independent operator console desk measuring 830 mm (L) x 800 mm (W) x 1330 mm (H). This dedicated console houses the operator control interface, the biometric fingerprint identification module for authenticated user access, and the included 17-inch LED display monitor. Because the console is physically separate from the primary radiation inspection housing, facility teams can arrange the workstation to maximize operator posture comfort, screening visibility, and overall security lane ergonomics.

Electrical Power and Network Infrastructure

The total electrical power consumption of the ZKTeco ZKX6550 is rated at 0.6 kVA. System integrators should supply a clean, dedicated power feed to prevent operational disruptions to the high-voltage 140 kV to 150 kV sealed oil-cooled X-ray generator assembly. The system generates an operating acoustic noise profile of 53.8 dBA, making it well-suited for noise-sensitive indoor checkpoints such as transit terminals, corporate lobbies, hotels, and government facilities.

For network connectivity and enterprise security management, the ZKX6550 communicates via standard RJ45 TCP/IP network protocol. Connect the scanner to the local security network via structured CAT6 cabling to enable data synchronization with centralized security inspection platforms, including ZKTeco ZKBio SIS management software. Network connectivity also supports optional modular expansions such as synchronized video surveillance monitoring feeds.

Baseline Commissioning and Safety Diagnostics

Once physically positioned and energized, certified technicians can access built-in diagnostic and maintenance routines directly from the console interface. System integrity checks should verify the operational status of the integrated system running timer and X-ray emission timer. The scanner utilizes an L-shaped dual-energy detector array capable of wire resolution down to 40 AWG (0.0787 mm metal wire) and spatial definition of Φ 1.0 mm horizontal and Φ 2.0 mm vertical.

Baseline calibration must also verify the built-in threat detection algorithms, including Threat Image Projection (TIP), luggage counter tracking, high-density penetration alarms, and explosive/drug auxiliary alerts. Radiation safety verification should confirm cabinet leakage rates remain at or below 0.1 µGy/h measured at 5 cm from external surfaces, ensuring compliance with international radiation safety standards and photographic film protection under ASA/ISO 1600. Operators can also utilize the integrated training mode to practice inspection workflows without requiring live contraband items.
