The ZKTeco FBL220 is engineered specifically as an intermediate dual-barrier pedestal designed to expand lane capacity in pedestrian entrance control checkpoints. It cannot function as a standalone single-lane barrier; it must be deployed in tandem with the ZKTeco FBL200 series primary units to form two or more contiguous lanes. When planning the entrance floor plan, system designers must align the FBL220 directly between the master and slave turnstile cabinets.

Standard lane clearance provides a passage width of 570 mm to 600 mm between adjacent pedestals. The turnstile chassis measures 1200 mm in length, 300 mm in width, and 980 mm in height (with an installation equipment footprint of 840 mm x 1150 mm). The net unit weight is 69 kg (98 kg gross shipping weight). Ground surfaces must be flat, level finished concrete capable of anchoring the 69 kg SUS304 stainless steel cabinet securely. The cabinet design incorporates a completely smooth exterior finish with no exposed exterior screws, enhancing pedestrian passage safety and physical tamper resistance.

Environmental Pre-requisites & Mechanical Mounting

The FBL220 is rated for deployment in indoor environments or sheltered outdoor settings protected from direct precipitation. Site conditions must adhere to an operating ambient temperature between -28°C and 60°C and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 5% to 80%. When installing the pedestal over subsurface conduits, power and low-voltage access control communication lines must be stubbed up within the base footprint opening before securing the mounting hardware to the substrate.

Power Infrastructure & Emergency Fail-Safe Integration

Electrical service must supply AC 100V to 120V or AC 200V to 240V at 50/60 Hz to the internal power terminal blocks. The drive system operates with low mechanical noise, generating ≤30 dB during opening cycles with a rapid 0.8-second wing opening time.

  • Emergency Breakout Integration: The turnstile supports automatic barrier retraction during building emergencies, pulling the acrylic barrier wings upward into the cabinet to clear passage for up to 30 people per minute.
  • Power Loss Fail-Safe: To ensure that the acrylic barriers retract automatically during an electrical mains interruption, an emergency backup battery (they are not included) must be integrated into the control system.
  • Status Indication: Integrate low-voltage signaling to the directional LED indicator support modules to deliver intuitive green arrow and red cross visual signaling for multi-lane passenger transit.

Control Board Setup & Access Reader Integration

The FBL220 contains a dedicated main flap barrier control board featuring an integrated LCD display. System integrators configure system operational modes, opening and closing timings, and sensor thresholds directly via the LCD menu interface without requiring external programming devices. The unit readily interfaces with RFID card readers, biometric fingerprint readers, or hybrid verification devices pre-installed or integrated into the SUS304 top lid and cabinet framework. All mechanical assemblies are factory-rated for an operational reliability threshold of 2,000,000 Mean Cycles Between Failures (MCBF).
