Mechanical Installation, Wiring, and Commissioning Guide

Chassis Placement and Physical Foundation

The ZKTeco BGM400 barrier gate features an IP54-rated chassis with external dimensions of 330 mm (W) x 265 mm (D) x 980 mm (H) and a net chassis weight of 40 kg (excluding the arm). Installation should be executed on a level, structurally sound concrete foundation within an operating environment between -30°C and 75°C with relative humidity not exceeding 90% RH.

The system is available in BGM400L (chassis on the left, boom arm on the right) and BGM400R (chassis on the right, boom arm on the left) configurations. In addition, the movement assembly incorporates a field-reversible boom direction mechanism, allowing site technicians to convert chassis orientation between left-hand and right-hand drive directly on site if lane layouts change.

Boom Arm Assembly and Mechanical Balancing

The BGM400 accommodates a telescopic straight boom arm adjustable from 3 meters to 6 meters in length. Proper mechanical alignment and balance spring calibration are critical for optimal operation and extending the 2-million-cycle MCBF lifecycle:

  • Angle Alignment: Fine-tune the mechanical horizontal and vertical angle adjustment bolts located directly on the movement mechanism (which integrates a three-stage gear deceleration system and four-bar linkage) to ensure true 0° horizontal rest and 90° vertical stop positions.
  • Spring Tension Adjustment: Calibrate the balance spring tension corresponding to the chosen boom arm length (3 m to 6 m) so that the arm stays balanced at approximately 45 degrees when released manually.
  • Manual Release Check: Verify the manual release mechanism to ensure the boom can rise and fall smoothly by hand during primary power outages.

Electrical Wiring and Power Connections

Connect the primary power feed to the internal terminals, supporting AC 220V/110V ±10% at 50/60 Hz. The internal 24V DC brushless motor operates at 160W rated output power and 10A output current. For uninterruptible operation during facility power loss, the system mainboard supports dedicated input wiring for an external 24V uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or solar power supply systems.

Digital Mainboard Setup and Peripheral Integration

Upon power-up, the barrier gate initiates an automated power-up self-test sequence. Installers configure movement profiles using the onboard digital control mainboard keys and display menu:

Configuration / Terminal Operational Specification & Integration Details
Operating Speed Adjustment Infinitely configurable between 1.5 seconds and 6.0 seconds based on the installed boom arm length.
Safety & Anti-Smash Detection Dedicated terminal interfaces for ZKTeco VR10 Pro radar detectors, PSA26 photocells, and PSA02 vehicle loop detectors with automatic obstacle rebound logic.
Access Control Integration Dry contact trigger inputs for ZKTeco UHF 5 Pro / UHF 10 Pro long-range RFID readers, LPRS1000 license plate recognition cameras, and PSA03 emergency manual push buttons.
Signaling Outputs Integrated traffic light signal output terminals and onboard failure warning diagnostic indicators.
Wireless Remote Setup 433 MHz learning-code receiver pairing and memory clearance functions (effective transmission range ≤30 meters).
