Routine maintenance and systematic pre-use inspection are critical operational requirements for sustaining the safety integrity of the Udyogi Eco-1 (KTI15009001ECO1) full body harness. Because this personal fall arrest equipment is deployed across rigorous industrial environments—including construction sites, factory production floors, and builder projects—a formal preventative maintenance routine ensures adherence to IS 3521: 2005 and IS 3521:Part 1:2021 safety standards.

Pre-Use Webbing and Stitching Inspection

Before every work shift, safety personnel or competent harness users must carry out a tactile and visual examination along the entire length of the 44 ± 1 mm synthetic polyester webbing. Grasp the webbing in both hands and flex it into an inverted 'U' shape to expose hidden surface damage:

  • Surface Cuts and Abrasions: Examine the fray-proof dope-dyed polyester webbing for cuts, snags, pulled fibers, or edge abrasions that may impair the 23 kN webbing breaking strength.
  • Stitching Integrity: Closely inspect all structural seams stitched with high-strength polyester thread. Verify that no stitches are broken, cut, loose, unraveled, or missing, paying particular attention to the load-bearing joints around the torso, thighs, and the integrated sit-strap.
  • Chemical and Thermal Degradation: Inspect the dual-colour webbing for discoloration, stiffness, brittle patches, or fusing caused by exposure to aggressive chemicals, extreme heat, or industrial spatter.
  • Orientation Integrity: Confirm that the built-in dual-colour webbing scheme remains clearly identifiable to ensure proper alignment and prevent severe twisting during donning.

Alloy Steel Hardware and Attachment Point Examination

The metallic and textile anchoring components must be thoroughly evaluated to guarantee rapid connection and structural reliability during fall arrest:

  • Dorsal D-Ring: Check the dorsal D-ring for distortion, cracks, sharp burrs, deep gouges, or corrosion. Verify that it pivots freely within its polyester retaining keeper.
  • Two Textile Chest Attachment Loops: Inspect both front textile attachment loops for yarn separation, heavy wear, or friction fraying from connecting hardware.
  • High-Strength Alloy Steel Buckles: Inspect all metal adjustment buckles located at the chest and thigh adjustment straps. Confirm that buckles are free from cracks, deformation, and excessive rust, and ensure their zinc-plated surfaces show no sharp edges that could abrade the 44 ± 1 mm webbing.
  • Adjustment Strap Function: Verify that webbing feeds smoothly through the chest and thigh buckles without slippage or jamming.

Mandatory Decommissioning Protocols
