Phantom Power and Electrical Interfacing

The EM-800 gooseneck microphone (KT SKU: KTI14002001GPMI) is an electret condenser transducer requiring active phantom power within a nominal voltage range of 9 V to 52 V DC. It is fully compatible with standard professional audio mixers, digital signal processors (DSP), commercial paging amplifiers, and matrix mixers equipped with balanced XLR microphone inputs that supply standard DC phantom power. The unit will not deliver audio output when connected to non-powered or purely passive dynamic microphone input circuits without a dedicated phantom power supply.

Featuring a rated balanced output impedance of 120 Ω, the microphone provides low-noise, balanced signal transmission over extended cable runs without high-frequency degradation. Its output impedance interfaces seamlessly with standard professional and industrial microphone preamplifiers typically rated for 1.5 kΩ to 3 kΩ bridging load impedances.

Connector and Mechanical Mounting Compatibility

The base of the microphone terminates in an XLR-3-12 equivalent 3-pin male connector. This standard termination allows direct physical and electrical connection to:

  • Dedicated Desktop Bases: Fully compatible with the optional ST-800 tabletop microphone stand base for plug-and-play podium, boardroom, and desk deployment.
  • Podium XLR Flange Receptacles: Direct insertion into panel-mounted XLR-3 female chassis sockets mounted on lecterns, conference tables, or custom speech desks.
  • Audio Stage Boxes and Wall Plates: Standard balanced XLR wall plates and stage boxes across commercial and educational facilities.

With an overall length of 420 mm and a slim diameter of φ12 mm, the unit’s dual-point adjustable copper alloy gooseneck shaft provides stable structural support when seated into standard locking or friction-fit 3-pin XLR female receptacles.

System Architecture & Acoustic Environment Matching

The cardioid polar pattern and 60 Hz to 20,000 Hz frequency response make this microphone compatible with multi-zone public address, conference, and speech reinforcement systems. By offering high off-axis rejection, it reduces the risk of acoustic feedback in high-gain acoustic environments, such as lecture halls, auditoriums, worship places, shopping malls, and conference rooms.
