SOLT SR5-MPR Receiver Hardware Setup and PC Monitoring Software Installation Guide

Hardware Placement and Power Connection

The SOLT SR5-MPR PC Monitoring Receiver features a compact desktop footprint measuring 146 mm (W) × 90 mm (L) × 32 mm (H) with an approximate weight of 114 to 116 grams. The unit is manufactured in a two-tone housing consisting of a glossy-black top cover and a white bottom base. Position the receiver on a stable, elevated desk or equipment shelf adjacent to the designated host computer to maintain clean line-of-sight propagation for RF reception.

Attach the external dipole antenna securely to the terminal on the receiver body. The dipole antenna provides omnidirectional 360-degree signal reception across the 434 MHz band (433.92 / 434.65 MHz) utilizing FSK low-power digital modulation. In large-scale industrial plants, hospitals, or multi-floor facilities where signals traverse substantial structural barriers, install SOLT SR5-BPR signal repeaters across intermediate spaces to relay transmissions reliably to the central receiver.

Connect the output lead of the supplied AC/DC power adapter to the DC barrel input on the receiver. Plug the adapter into an electrical outlet supplying AC 110–240V. The adapter outputs regulated DC 12V / 1A to power the internal circuitry. Verify device operation using the integrated 1.3-inch LCD display located on the bottom panel of the unit, which provides visual status indications for operational modes.

PC Interface and COM Port Driver Setup

The SR5-MPR links to the host computer through an RS-232 serial architecture using a dedicated USB-to-serial converter cable. Connect the serial interface to the receiver and insert the USB connector into an active USB port on the workstation.

Install the dedicated USB-to-serial cable driver supplied on the driver installation media. Once driver execution is complete, open Windows Device Manager and expand the Ports (COM & LPT) section. Confirm that the USB Serial Port is detected and that a specific virtual COM port number has been assigned without hardware resource conflicts. The hardware and monitoring environment support 32-bit and 64-bit architectures across Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11.

Database Engine and Software Deployment

The SOLT PC Monitoring program requires an underlying database engine to log incoming calls, process timestamps, and support statistical reporting. Perform the software installation in the following sequence:

  • Database Installation: Install the Firebird 2.1 relational database engine before launching the main software. Retain all default installation paths and system service configurations, as the SOLT monitoring suite relies on active Firebird 2.1 background operations to store event records.
  • Application Deployment: Run the SOLT PC Monitoring application setup executable. Complete the guided installation to deploy the monitoring interface, call tracking dashboards, and data export modules.
  • Port Assignment: Launch the SOLT PC Monitoring program with administrative permissions. Open the communication setup menu and designate the COM port number that matches the virtual USB Serial Port established in Device Manager.

Transmitter Registration and Call Escalation Commissioning

After establishing the communication link between the receiver and workstation, register all wireless calling points within the software management console:

Configuration Parameter Required Entry Operational Role
Transmitter Identification Calling Bell Chip ID (6-digit code) and Key Code Enrolls individual button hardware into the system database (manages up to 500 to 1,000 IDs).
Location Mapping Alphanumeric zone, room, bed, or station name Displays physical facility locations on the monitoring dashboard during an active transmission.
Visual & Audio Designation Distinct background colours and alert audio files Differentiates standard calls, emergency assistance alerts, and nurse or supervisor calls.
Escalation Threshold Configurable "Dealing Time" duration in seconds/minutes Triggers an audible siren sound through the PC speakers if elapsed response time exceeds the preset limit.

Upon completing device registration, actuate deployed call and cancel buttons across all operating areas to verify end-to-end signal capture, screen pop-up notifications, and call clearance actions. Establish an automated daily backup routine for the Firebird database file to non-volatile secondary storage or network drives to ensure critical facility logs and button configurations remain fully protected.
