The SOLT SB9-3XWH wireless calling transmitter bell provides rapid, wire-free deployment across hospitality venues, corporate offices, and healthcare environments. Because the device operates entirely without data cabling, mechanical placement and system integration can be executed quickly with minimal infrastructure disruption. Adhering to standardized commissioning practices ensures continuous RF transmission performance and preserves certified environmental protection.
Surface Preparation and Mechanical Mounting
Engineered with a compact footprint of 74 mm (W) x 46 mm (L) x 11 mm (H) and an approximate weight of 28 g, the SB9-3XWH is designed for non-invasive attachment to flat surfaces. Typical installation locations include restaurant dining tables, order counters, executive desks, and bedside patient stations.
- Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean the targeted non-porous substrate (such as timber, acrylic, composite, or wall tiling) to remove all dust, grease, and moisture before mounting.
- Adhesive Pad Attachment: Apply heavy-duty double-sided industrial adhesive pads to the rear of the impact-resistant polymer housing. Press firmly against the mounting surface for uniform adhesion.
- Bracket Mounting: Where frequent relocation is discouraged, use optional mounting brackets secured directly to flat walls or structural fixtures. Slide the transmitter into the bracket until it seats securely.
Power Insertion and IP68 Enclosure Assembly
The transmitter is energized by two internal CR2032 lithium coin cell batteries (they are not included). Accessing the power bay and maintaining ingress protection requires careful handling of the enclosure:
- Separate the snow white impact-resistant top cover from the transparent crystal-style bottom housing section to access the internal printed circuit board.
- Insert two CR2032 lithium coin cell batteries (they are not included) into the designated battery holders, verifying correct electrical polarity. Operational battery life provides 18 to 24 months of service under regular daily call frequency.
- Inspect the internal sealing gasket before snapping or fastening the housing sections together. The perimeter gasket must be cleanly seated in its retention channel to maintain the unit's certified IP68 waterproof and dust ingress protection. Improper gasket seating compromises water resistance during surface wipe-downs and immersion.
- Depress each button to confirm power delivery. Successful transmission is verified visually by the dual-indicator indirect LED perimeter lighting illuminating through the top and bottom housing.
Over-the-Air (OTA) Bell ID System Registration
The SB9-3XWH incorporates a 3-button user interface factory-configured for two distinct call actions and one cancel action. Device IDs are registered wirelessly over-the-air directly to target receiving equipment:
- Place the target receiver—such as a SOLT SM3 series main display panel (SM3-33PC, SM3-61PC, or SM3-22PN), an SP5 or SP7 wristwatch pager, or an SR5-MPR PC monitoring receiver—into registration / learning mode.
- Depress a call button on the SB9-3XWH. The omnidirectional 360-degree internal PCB antenna will broadcast the unique transmitter ID using FSK low-power data transmission over the 400 MHz / 433 MHz RF frequency band.
- Verify that the receiver logs the transmitter ID and associates the 2-call and 1-cancel data sequences with the assigned station, table, or room number.
- Repeat the registration process across mobile wrist pagers or PC logging software suites as required by the operational floor plan.
RF Validation and Signal Extension
After physical mounting and system registration, conduct field walk-tests by triggering both call functions and the cancel function from the final installed position. Confirm that transmissions register instantaneously on wall-mounted displays, pagers, and PC monitoring software without signal drops.
If transmission coverage is impaired by dense structural concrete, metal partitioning, or multi-floor layouts, deploy SOLT SR5-BPR RF signal booster repeaters between the transmitter and the monitoring stations. Repeaters receive the 400 MHz / 433 MHz FSK signal and retransmit it omnidirectionally to bridge heavy structural shielding.
