Installation and Commissioning Guide for SOLT SB9-2PWH Wireless Call Button

Pre-Installation Site Assessment and RF Planning

The SOLT SB9-2PWH is an ultra-compact wireless call transmitter engineered for rapid deployment across hospitals, clinics, nursing facilities, corporate meeting spaces, and hospitality operations. Prior to fixed installation, system integrators should assess the radio frequency environment. The unit operates on the 400 MHz frequency band utilizing FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) digital modulation, radiating through an internal omnidirectional PCB antenna with 360-degree coverage.

Under unobstructed, open-field conditions, the SB9-2PWH achieves a wireless transmission range of up to 100 meters. When planning layout densities in complex multi-room facilities, account for structural attenuation caused by reinforced concrete, metallic partitions, or dense architectural barriers. In facilities where direct signal paths between the transmitter and the receiver exceed practical limits or enter RF-shaded zones, SOLT SR5 series signal repeaters should be integrated into the infrastructure layout to extend signal reach across multiple floors or wings.

Mounting Options and Surface Preparation

Weighing approximately 28 grams with dimensions of 74 mm (W) x 46 mm (L) x 11 mm (H), the snow white housing is designed for versatile surface mounting on flat architectural surfaces, patient bed frames, corporate conference tables, and dining stations.

  • Adhesive Surface Attachment: Clean the intended mounting substrate thoroughly to remove oils, dust, or moisture. Apply high-bonding double-sided adhesive tape evenly to the flat rear profile of the transmitter. Firmly press the unit against the wall, tabletop, or headboard panel for several seconds to secure adhesion.
  • Mounting Bracket Placement: Where operational environments demand frequent repositioning, cleaning detachment, or mechanical retention, attach a compatible mounting bracket to the wall or tabletop fixture using standard hardware, then snap or slide the transmitter securely into place.
  • Substrate Considerations: Avoid affixing the unit directly flush against extensive solid steel or sheet metal plates where possible, as metal backing can detune the internal PCB antenna and degrade the 100-meter line-of-sight RF performance.

Power Verification and Cell Insertion

The SB9-2PWH transmitter is powered by 2 x CR2032 coin cell batteries (they are not included). Access the internal power compartment of the IP68 water-resistant casing to seat both coin cell batteries (they are not included) in their designated slots, ensuring correct terminal polarity. Once sealed, the IP68 construction protects internal components against water ingress and particulate dust during clinical wipe-downs or hospitality spills. When fresh cells are installed, the unit provides an operational lifespan of 18 to 24 months under typical commercial duty cycles.

System Pairing and Receiver Integration

Before putting the call button into active service, the SB9-2PWH must be registered and mapped to designated monitoring terminals on the network:

  • Display Receiver Registration: Put the target SOLT central display unit (such as the SM3 series numeric/alphanumeric display receiver) into programming or learning mode. Press one of the two call buttons on the SB9-2PWH. The transmitter will send an FSK data transmission while its front-facing LED blinks to confirm transmission. Assign the unique transmitter ID or table/bed number directly on the receiver interface.
  • Mobile Wrist Pager Configuration: For staff mobility setups using SOLT SP5 or SP7 watch pagers, enter the receiver's pairing menu and trigger the call transmitter. Map the two distinct button functions (such as call and service signaling) according to facility workflow standards.

Commissioning and Functional Verification

Verify end-to-end communication by testing each of the 2 call buttons from the final installed position. Confirm that depressing each switch triggers the instantaneous LED blink on the transmitter face and produces an immediate alert event on paired SM3 receiver panels and SP5/SP7 wrist pagers. Perform walk-tests to the furthest receiver location to confirm RF stability before releasing the system for daily patient or guest operations.
