Industrial and Enterprise Use Cases for the Sivananda RB Series Flap Barrier

The Sivananda RB Series single-lane retractable flap barrier is engineered for facility managers, security integrators, and plant engineers requiring fast, physical pedestrian perimeter control across space-constrained ingress and egress points. Operating on a continuous 100% duty cycle Brushless DC (BLDC) motor with a transit throughput of 20 persons per minute, this barrier provides automated entry control across high-volume commercial, industrial, and regulated access corridors.

Corporate Headquarters, IT Campuses, and Commercial BPOs

High-density office towers, IT parks, BPOs, and call centers experience significant foot-traffic peaks during morning shift starts, shift handovers, and evening exits. Deploying the RB Series single-lane turnstile—configured with two adjacent casework columns and rapid-retracting acrylic panels—establishes a structured access point in reception lobbies and turnstile banks.

With opening and closing cycles under one second (0.5 seconds for standard 520 mm passages and 1.0 second for 900 mm passages), pedestrian queues are minimized. The onboard controller supports bi-directional throughput and interfaces directly via opto-isolated inputs/outputs with third-party time-and-attendance systems, RFID proximity readers, and biometric facial recognition terminals. In standard Normally Closed mode, unauthorized personnel are physically blocked, while an optional Normally Open configuration allows smooth flow until an unverified credential triggers instant flap closure.

Critical Infrastructure and High-Security Government Establishments

The RB Series is deployed across defense establishments, nuclear power plants, Department of Atomic Energy premises, oil refineries, and bank note presses. In these sensitive environments, physical separation of unvetted visitors from restricted working zones is mandatory.

In the event of forced push-through or fraudulent entry attempts, the barrier engages integrated mechanical and electronic locking mechanisms to secure the acrylic panels in the closed position. The 230 V AC, 50 Hz single-phase system also features dedicated fire alarm panel interfacing, ensuring that upon an emergency alarm trigger, the opto-isolated control circuits immediately retract the barrier wings to provide an unobstructed evacuation path.

Industrial Zoning and Material Movement Lanes

Industrial processing facilities and manufacturing plants utilize the barrier to separate heavy plant operations from administrative offices and engineering control rooms. Where personnel must transition between clean office zones and industrial floors, the barrier manages authorized credential verification.

The barrier is available in two transit clearances to accommodate specific operational needs:

  • Standard 520 mm Passage: Tailored for compact spaces, turnstile corridors, and standard single-pedestrian verification, delivering a 0.5-second wing cycle time.
  • Wide 900 mm Passage: Configured for accessible entry, executive transit, or personnel carrying equipment cases and maintenance toolkits, operating with a 1.0-second cycle time.

Because this specific model variant is configured without tailgate detection sensors, it is ideally matched for supervised security checkpoints, staffed reception desks, or internal zone partitions where visual monitoring is maintained by security personnel.
