Installation and Commissioning Guidelines for Prolite PEL LED LBL

Proper installation of the Prolite Comet Series PEL LED LBL emergency beam light (KT stock reference: KTI1700100PLBL) ensures dependable Non-Maintained operation and rapid emergency egress lighting across industrial and commercial facilities during mains power interruptions. The luminaire features an IP 20 ingress protection rating and is engineered specifically for indoor environments, including factories, warehouses, godowns, shopping malls, and railway yards.

Structural Mounting and Site Preparation

The Prolite PEL LED LBL is designed for versatile surface mounting or portable deployment. The physical enclosure is fabricated from 22 SWG CRCA (Cold Rolled Close Annealed) sheet steel with a durable white powder-coated housing, having a total unit net weight of 2.5 kg. Because of this robust sheet steel construction, ensure that the selected mounting base, wall bracket, structural pillar, pole, or steel beam provides adequate load-bearing capacity.

  • Pillar and Pole Mounting: Position the base securely against the vertical surface of the pillar or pole using appropriate industrial mechanical fasteners to prevent vibration-induced displacement.
  • Structural Beam Mounting: When mounting or embedding the fixture onto structural I-beams or ceiling framework along designated escape routes, verify clear line-of-sight clearance for the beam optics.
  • Environmental Placement: Because the luminaire has an ingress protection rating of IP 20, it must be installed in moisture-free indoor spaces protected from water sprays, precipitation, and extreme dust accumulation.

Electrical Connections and Supply Interface

The PEL LED LBL operates on a standard single-phase electrical utility input of 230 V AC at 50 Hz. All electrical installations must adhere to the Indian Standard IS 10322 code of practice for luminaires as well as applicable local electrical safety regulations.

As a Non-Maintained emergency light, the internal circuitry monitors the incoming 230 V AC primary electrical supply continuously. In normal operation, the main lighting element remains unlit while the internal constant voltage charger powers the energy storage accumulator / battery (they are not included). In the event of primary power failure, the internal switching system automatically energizes the LED beam output to illuminate exit pathways.

Swivel Beam Focus and Optical Alignment

The fixture incorporates an integrated swivel facility that allows maintenance personnel and facility operators to orient the directional focus of the beam light:

  • Direct the beam heads toward egress paths, primary exit doors, corridor intersections, or safety stations.
  • Adjust the swivel mechanism manually to achieve optimum directional coverage across sprawling shop floors or warehouse aisles.
  • Fasten the swivel positioning firmly after optical alignment to avoid drift during standard industrial plant operations.

Commissioning and Charging Verification

Following mechanical mounting and electrical termination, restore 230 V AC, 50 Hz supply to initiate unit commissioning. Check the front-facing indicator panel to confirm that the red LED illuminates. A steady red LED "ON" signals that the internal constant voltage charging circuit is actively charging the SLA or Li-ion rechargeable accumulator / battery (they are not included).

A full initial recharging cycle requires a duration of 10 to 12 hours to bring the internal accumulator to full capacity. Once fully charged, the luminaire provides an emergency runtime of 3 hours (with a +10% duration tolerance). Complete a post-installation mains-disconnect test to verify instant automated lamp illumination and alignment along the emergency exit route.
