Maintenance, Inspection & Charging Protocols for Pelican 3315R

Routine Enclosure Inspection and EPDM O-Ring Servicing

Maintaining the intrinsic safety integrity and IP67 and IPX7 waterproof ingress protection of the Pelican 3315R LED searchlight requires scheduled mechanical inspection before deployment into Class I, Division 1 and IECEx ia hazardous locations. The enclosure seal relies on a precision-seated EPDM rubber O-ring located beneath the threaded outer shroud. Technicians must inspect this EPDM seal during routine maintenance checks to verify that it is free from particulate accumulation, cracking, cuts, or mechanical pinching.

If contaminants or industrial debris bypass the outer bezel, wipe the sealing channel with a clean, lint-free cloth. Ensure the outer shroud—molded from anti-static impact-modified PC/PBT—is torqued firmly against the main body. An improperly seated O-ring or under-torqued shroud compromises the IP67 water submersion rating, which protects internal circuitry under ANSI/PLATO FL 1 standard test conditions.

Cleaning Anti-Static PC/PBT Housing and Coated Polycarbonate Lens

The Pelican 3315R features an external body and outer shroud fabricated from anti-static impact-modified PC/PBT, paired with a specialized anti-static coated polycarbonate (PC) optical lens. To preserve the electrostatic dissipation properties essential for IECEx ia flameproof searchlight certifications, avoid abrasive industrial scouring pads, petroleum-derived solvents, or harsh chemical degreasers during cleaning.

Optic and chassis cleaning should be conducted using a soft microfiber cloth dampened with clean water or a mild aqueous soap solution. Gently wipe foreign contaminants and particulate matter off the anti-static coated polycarbonate lens to maintain maximum beam penetration—preserving the 132-lumen high mode (2,931 candela peak beam intensity, 108-meter beam distance) and 15-lumen low mode (308 candela peak beam intensity, 35-meter beam distance). Dry the black housing thoroughly before reconnecting charging gear or storing the light.

Recharge Cycle Management and Battery (they are not included) Indicator Monitoring

The unit features a dedicated push-button power switch with an integrated full-time RGB LED battery (they are not included) status indicator. Plant personnel must monitor this multi-color LED switch indicator during shift operations to identify remaining runtime across high (up to 5 hours), low (up to 34 hours), or flashing light modes.

When the RGB LED indicator signals depleted capacity, connect the 3315R to its compatible charging dock. A standard complete recharge cycle requires up to 10 hours. The internal power architecture is engineered around a 3.2V 18650 size Lithium Iron Phosphate rechargeable battery (they are not included), capable of delivering up to 2,000 charge cycles—representing a 300% cycle life increase over standard alternative chemistries. Routine charging must always be conducted in non-hazardous industrial areas. Never unthread the shroud or expose internal battery (they are not included) terminals within classified hazardous environments.

Preventative Maintenance and Inspection Schedule

Facility maintenance teams should institute the following preventative maintenance cadence to guarantee operational readiness across petrochemical, chemical processing, and confined space industrial applications:

Maintenance Interval Target Component Inspection and Servicing Action
Pre-Shift / Daily Push-Button Switch & RGB LED Depress the push button to test High, Low, and Flashing modes; check the RGB LED battery (they are not included) level indicator. Verify wrist lanyard retention.
Weekly / Post-Operation Polycarbonate (PC) Lens & Housing Inspect the anti-static coated PC lens and anti-static impact-modified PC/PBT body for structural damage, heavy grime, or chemical residue. Clean with a damp cloth.
Monthly / Periodic EPDM O-Ring & Shroud Threads Unthread the outer shroud in a safe area; inspect the EPDM rubber O-ring for elongation, deformation, or drying. Ensure the shroud re-seats firmly for IP67 sealing.
Periodic Recharging Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery (they are not included) Perform a complete 10-hour recharge cycle using compatible equipment to maintain 2,000-cycle life on 3.2V 18650 cells (they are not included).
