Ahuja SUH-25MT 100V PA Horn Speaker Installation and Wiring Guide

The Ahuja SUH-25MT is an industrial 100V distributed-line public address horn speaker designed for high-intelligibility paging, alarm signaling, and voice distribution across industrial facilities, perimeter security corridors, and outdoor plants. Engineered with a UV-protected ABS plastic enclosure and rated for IP66 ingress protection, proper mechanical installation and electrical line matching are essential to ensure acoustic coverage and long-term operating reliability under severe environmental conditions.

Mechanical Mounting and Directional Alignment

The SUH-25MT features a compact rectangular profile measuring 315 mm (W) x 165 mm (H) with a horn depth of 290 mm and a net unit weight of 1.90 kg. The rectangular horn geometry is engineered to deliver controlled directional acoustic dispersion, making it particularly effective for long-throw perimeters, factory walkways, loading docks, and vehicle mounting.

  • Support Structure: Secure the heavy-duty mounting bracket directly to flat walls, steel stanchions, unistrut channels, or pole clamps using the corrosion-resistant stainless steel mounting bolts provided. Ensure the mounting substrate can continuously bear the 1.90 kg static weight plus dynamic outdoor wind loads.
  • Angle Adjustment: Tilt the horn slightly downward below horizontal to optimize sound projection toward target listening zones and facilitate natural drainage of condensation or moisture away from the flare assembly.
  • Torque & Hardware: Tighten all external stainless steel hardware securely to lock the tilt and swivel alignment in place, preventing drift caused by industrial machinery vibrations.

100V Constant-Voltage Wiring Connections

The SUH-25MT incorporates an internal line matching transformer designed for 100V distributed constant-voltage commercial and industrial amplifier lines. This architecture minimizes signal transmission losses across extended cable runs common in large-scale manufacturing yards and perimeter systems.

  • Input Cable: The unit comes equipped with an integrated 0.6 m (2 ft) 2-core sheathed speaker cable exiting the rear enclosure through a factory-sealed, water-tight, tug-proof cable gland.
  • Junction Termination: Connect the 2-core cable to the incoming 100V speaker line inside a weatherproof, IP66-rated external junction box using screw terminals or moisture-resistant crimp connectors. Maintain correct audio polarity across all speakers on the line to preserve phase alignment.
  • Amplifier Compatibility: Connect exclusively to standard 100V constant-voltage outputs on public address booster amplifiers or mixer-amplifiers complying with EN 60065 safety standards. Do not connect directly to low-impedance (4Ω/8Ω) amplifier outputs while the transformer is in circuit.

Rotary Power Tap and Impedance Selection

The speaker is equipped with an external rotary selector switch located at the rear of the hermetically sealed assembly. This allows commissioning technicians to adjust power taps without opening the IP66 housing.

Set the rotary tap based on the required local Sound Pressure Level (rated at 108 dB/1W/1m across a 250 Hz to 10,000 Hz operating frequency response) and ensure that the cumulative wattage of all connected speakers on the audio run does not exceed the continuous power rating of the driving 100V amplifier.
