Installation, Wiring & System Integration for Ahuja SRX-120DXM

Physical Deployment & Placement Guidelines

The Ahuja SRX-120DXM is a heavy-duty two-way passive PA speaker engineered in a sealed closed-box enclosure. Built from 18mm board and covered in protective carpet, the cabinet measures 405 mm in width, 515 mm in height, and 330 mm in depth, with a net unit weight of 15.40 kg. System integrators should account for this physical footprint when positioning the unit in indoor auditoriums, small PA setups, podiums, or outdoor gathering areas.

Because the speaker utilizes a sealed enclosure topology for tightly controlled low-frequency damping from its 304.8 mm (12-inch) dual cone driver, it performs optimally when placed on stable, level surfaces, stage risers, or reinforced equipment platforms. Maintain an unobstructed line of sight from the front baffle to the target listening zone to ensure direct acoustic projection from both the 12-inch woofer and the 2-inch by 5-inch piezo horn tweeter across the 55 Hz to 20,000 Hz frequency range.

Audio Input Connectivity & Termination

The SRX-120DXM provides two distinct input connection options located on the rear termination panel to accommodate flexible field integration:

  • 1/4-Inch (6.35 mm) Phone Jack: Ideal for rapid patch-in connections using standard two-conductor unbalanced speaker cables during temporary sound reinforcement setups or mobile PA configurations.
  • Heavy-Duty Screw Terminal Strip: Recommended for fixed industrial and commercial installations. This connection allows secure fastening of bare wire ends, spade lugs, or ring terminals, preventing accidental disconnects in high-vibration environments.

Always verify polarity (+/-) consistency across the wiring run. Inverting polarity between multiple speakers operating in the same coverage area causes acoustic phase cancellation, leading to significant loss of low-frequency output and hollow speech articulation.

Amplifier Matching & Electrical Configuration

The Ahuja SRX-120DXM operates with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (8Ω) and handles continuous input power of 100W RMS. System designers must match the speaker to a compatible low-impedance power amplifier or commercial mixer-amplifier delivering clean RMS output at an 8-ohm load.

When connecting multiple SRX-120DXM units to a single amplifier channel, observe standard low-impedance electrical rules:

  • Parallel Connection (Two Units): Connecting two 8-ohm SRX-120DXM enclosures in parallel presents a net nominal load of 4 ohms (4Ω) to the amplifier channel. The amplifier must be rated for stable continuous operation into 4-ohm loads.
  • Cable Gauge Selection: Use high-purity, two-core stranded copper speaker cable sized appropriately for the run length to preserve damping factor and minimize signal loss over extended line runs.

Commissioning & Sound Level Calibration

With an acoustic sensitivity of 97 dB (1W/1m) and a maximum rated output of 117 dB SPL, the SRX-120DXM delivers high speech intelligibility and undistorted background music playback. Prior to powering the system, verify that mixer and amplifier master gains are set to zero. Bring audio levels up gradually while monitoring for input clipping at the amplifier stage to avoid driving the continuous 100W RMS threshold into thermal distortion.
