Mounting Configuration: Free-Standing and Wall-Mounted Setup

The Ahuja ACM-66 paging microphone is engineered for rapid deployment in commercial public address, institutional paging, and open conferencing environments. The unit features a heavy-duty aluminium die-cast base that provides structural rigidity and physical stability during continuous daily operation.

System integrators can deploy the Ahuja ACM-66 in two primary physical configurations:

  • Free-Standing Desktop Deployment: The weighted aluminium die-cast base rests directly on operator desks, security consoles, reception counters, or dispatch stations. Its stable footprint prevents tipping or shifting when operators depress the switching controls or adjust the neck angle.
  • Wall-Mounted Installation: For control rooms or industrial dispatch booths where desk surface area is restricted, the base supports wall-mounted installation. Secure the base against a vertical structural surface or mounting backplate to ensure stable accessibility for operators making routine or emergency announcements.

Gooseneck Adjustment and Acoustic Orientation

The unit is equipped with a strong, flexible 10-inch gooseneck securely fixed to the aluminium die-cast base. The gooseneck allows precise multi-axis positioning of the microphone capsule toward the speaker's mouth.

Because the Ahuja ACM-66 utilizes a dynamic transducer element with a unidirectional polar pickup pattern, correct acoustic orientation is critical. Position the 10-inch gooseneck so the microphone capsule points directly along the talker's speech axis. This directional alignment maximizes pickup of the voice across its 50 Hz to 15,000 Hz frequency response and takes full advantage of the 2.2 mV/Pa sensitivity while rejecting off-axis ambient acoustic noise.

Audio Signal Wiring and Interface Connections

The microphone package is supplied with an integrated 6-metre twin-core shielded low-noise connection cable terminated with a standard 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) phone plug. The twin-core shielded construction minimizes electromagnetic interference (EMI) and line noise across the full 6-metre cable run.

To connect the microphone to your public address or audio distribution infrastructure:

  • Route the 6-metre shielded cable away from high-voltage AC power conduits, heavy industrial machinery, or variable-frequency drives to maintain clean signal transfer.
  • Insert the 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) phone plug directly into the dedicated microphone input jack of a compatible PA booster amplifier, mixer amplifier, mixing console, or professional audio interface.
  • Ensure the receiving amplifier channel is configured to match the microphone's rated 500-ohm electrical impedance.

Switch Operation and Pre-Commissioning Verification

The die-cast base incorporates dual integrated mechanical push switches designed for distinct operational workflows:

  • Momentary Switch: Use for short paging announcements, gate communications, and push-to-talk (PTT) messaging. The audio signal passes only while the switch is actively depressed.
  • Locked Switch: Depress into the locked position for continuous-talk applications, dispatch monitoring, open conferencing, or extended public announcements. Press again to release.

During commissioning, set the host mixer or amplifier input gain to nominal level, test both the momentary and locking switch engagements, and calibrate system master gain to prevent feedback while ensuring intelligible voice transmission.
