Installation, System Integration & Tap Configuration

Mechanical Placement and Structural Mounting Guidelines

The Hitune HSC-20T sound column speaker features an extruded aluminium enclosure with die-cast aluminium top and bottom covers, providing a rugged physical profile measuring 460 mm in height, 150 mm in width, and 130 mm in depth. With an overall net weight of 3.530 kg, mounting surfaces must be selected to reliably support dynamic acoustic vibration and static mechanical load. Structural anchoring should be performed on load-bearing structural walls, masonry, steel columns, or dedicated auditorium mounting frameworks.

Because the speaker incorporates an internal vertical array of 2 drivers engineered to deliver a controlled, well-defined sound beaming pattern, vertical orientation and mounting elevation are critical. Aligning the vertical axis directly toward the intended audience plane reduces ceiling and floor acoustic reflections. In reverberant commercial environments and auditoriums, this narrow vertical dispersion controls spill, mitigates unwanted reflections, and suppresses acoustic feedback paths back into live microphones.

Environmental and Protection Considerations

The HSC-20T is engineered as a weather-resistant and dust-resistant sound column. The front acoustic aperture features an aluminium mesh grille backed by an integrated internal foam layer specifically designed to shield the 2 internal speaker cones from particulate ingress, airborne debris, and atmospheric exposure. When planning field positioning in industrial plants, transit hubs, or open auditoriums, ensure the speaker is positioned vertically so that environmental protection is maintained across the extruded aluminium body and die-cast end caps.

Multi-Tap Line Matching Transformer Configuration

Electrical integration is streamlined through an integrated rotary switch located on the die-cast bottom cover of the unit. This external rotary switch enables rapid field adjustment of operating impedance and wattage taps without requiring disassembly of the main weather-resistant aluminium enclosure or removal of the front grille. Installers can easily calibrate sound pressure levels across distributed audio zones during commissioning.

The internal line-matching transformer is calibrated for commercial 100V distributed public address networks. The bottom-mounted selector provides four discrete power and impedance operating points:

  • 15 W RMS Tap: Selected at 670 Ω impedance setting for primary zones requiring maximum rated acoustic output.
  • 10 W Tap: Selected at 1 kΩ (1000 Ω) impedance setting for balanced coverage in mid-sized commercial spaces.
  • 5 W Tap: Selected at 2 kΩ (2000 Ω) impedance setting for secondary corridors or lower ambient noise zones.
  • 2.5 W Tap: Selected at 4 kΩ (4000 Ω) impedance setting for low-level localized paging and background distribution.

Commissioning and Electrical Parameters

During system line-load calculations, system engineers must sum the total selected wattage across all parallel-connected HSC-20T sound columns on a 100V amplifier line to ensure the total load remains within the continuous power handling headroom of the PA amplifier. At the maximum continuous tap (15 W RMS, with 23 W Max power handling capability), the speaker produces a sound pressure level of 105 dB SPL across an effective speech-band frequency response of 150 Hz to 10,000 Hz, delivering optimized speech clarity even in difficult acoustic installations.
