UB-600 Frameless Glass Door Installation Guidelines

Frameless Glass Door Leaf Preparation

The UB-600 U-bracket is engineered specifically for mounting an electromagnetic lock armature plate onto frameless glass doors without requiring drilling, cutting, or mechanical perforation of the glass panel. Prior to fitting, verify that the frameless glass leaf has a uniform edge thickness between 10 mm and 12 mm. Clean the top edge of the glass thoroughly to eliminate oil, dust, and particulate contaminants that could compromise clamping friction or concentrate stress against the glass surface.

Protective Shim Placement and Bracket Seating

Direct contact between the metallic housing and bare glass must be avoided during installation. Position the protective clamping shims and gaskets over the upper edge of the frameless glass door panel where the bracket will reside. Slide the UB-600 bracket downward over the gasketed edge until the internal channel rests fully and evenly against the top of the glass.

The bracket measures 180 mm in length, 40 mm in width, and 28 mm in height, providing a stable clamping footprint across the door panel. Confirm that the bracket is mounted level and positioned to align directly beneath the corresponding header-mounted electromagnetic lock assembly.

Fastening and Clamping Force Guidelines

Secure the high-strength aluminium bracket by tightening the integral clamping screws against the shim plate. Clamping force must be distributed gradually and uniformly across the fasteners. Tighten the screws alternately in small, balanced increments rather than driving a single fastener down completely at once.

Technicians must strictly avoid overtightening mounting clamping screws against the glass panel. Excessive torque or attempting to secure the bracket without the rubber protective shims creates localized stress points that can induce micro-fractures or catastrophic cracking in tempered glass leaves. Tighten only until the bracket assembly is firmly immobilized against lateral and downward pulling forces.

Armature Plate Integration and Alignment

Once the UB-600 is firmly clamped to the 10 mm to 12 mm glass door, assemble the armature plate of the single electromagnetic lock onto the front vertical face of the bracket. The UB-600 is designed to accommodate standard armature plates paired with 600 lbs (280 kg) holding force single-leaf electromagnetic locks.

Fasten the armature plate using the central mounting hardware provided with the lock mechanism, ensuring the specified rubber buffer washer remains between the armature plate and the bracket body to permit the slight mechanical float required for magnetic surface contact. Check that the door operates smoothly through its 90-degree opening mode without the bracket or attached plate interfering with the door frame or adjacent architectural fittings.

Final Commissioning and Swing Verification

Following final mechanical assembly, close the frameless glass door to test the engagement between the 600 lbs (280 kg) electromagnetic lock face and the bracket-mounted armature plate. The faces must meet flat across their entire surface area without angular tilt or mechanical binding. Energize the access control lock circuit to verify holding resistance, and cycle the door through its 90-degree travel path to ensure stable structural clearance along the upper door margin.
