Installation and Surface Anchoring Guidelines for KTI Rubber Wheel Stoppers

Pre-Installation Site Evaluation and Surface Compatibility

The KTI KTI16032001WSRF Rubber Wheel Stopper is engineered for direct ground-anchored surface installation across both indoor and outdoor parking facilities. Facility managers and installation contractors must evaluate the target mounting substrate prior to deployment. The unit is fully compatible with indoor multi-level epoxy-coated parking decks, standard concrete slabs, and outdoor asphalt driveway surfaces commonly found in corporate offices, shopping mall garages, tech parks, logistics yards, and residential basements.

Ensure the mounting area is structurally sound, level, and free of heavy debris, standing water, or loose aggregate. Because the unit features high compression-resistant solid molded rubber measuring 600 mm in length, 125 mm in width, and 100 mm in height with a net weight of 3.5 kg, establishing flush contact with the ground surface is essential for optimal load distribution and impact resistance when contacted by vehicle tyres.

Layout Configurations: Single vs. Dual Unit Deployment

Depending on the stall width, vehicle traffic profile, and facility bay architecture, the KTI 600 mm wheel stopper can be deployed in two standardized configurations:

  • Single Centered Unit Installation: One 600 mm wheel stopper is anchored along the center axis of the parking stall. This setup provides a primary tactile stop boundary for standard passenger cars, sedans, and light utility vehicles in space-constrained or standard commercial parking bays.
  • Dual Unit Track-Aligned Installation: Two 600 mm wheel stoppers are installed per parking stall, positioned symmetrically to align with the left and right vehicle tyre tracks. This configuration is recommended for wider bays, multi-level basement car parks, commercial retail centers, and logistics loading areas where broad vehicle approach angles occur.

Ground-Anchored Installation Procedure

1. Setback Measurement: Determine the stopping boundary offset from structural walls, curbs, railings, or perimeter fences. Position the wheel stopper so that vehicle overhangs (front or rear bumpers) do not make contact with facility infrastructure.

2. Positioning and Alignment: Place the black molded rubber stopper perpendicular to the parking stall entry vector. Ensure that high-visibility reflective sticker strips are oriented facing incoming traffic to maximize driver visibility during approach.

3. Hole Marking: Using the factory mounting points of the rubber wheel stopper as a template, mark the anchor hole positions directly onto the concrete, asphalt, or epoxy floor.

4. Drilling and Debris Removal: Move the stopper aside and drill mounting holes into the surface substrate according to the depth requirements of your ground anchors. Thoroughly clean out all concrete or asphalt dust from the drilled holes using compressed air or a industrial vacuum.

5. Anchor Fastening: Realign the KTI wheel stopper over the drilled holes, insert ground anchors through the stopper mounting points, and fasten securely until the unit is seated flush against the deck surface. Avoid over-torquing to maintain the structural integrity of the rubber body.

Post-Installation Inspection and Maintenance

Following installation, conduct a physical inspection to verify that the stopper remains firmly ground-anchored without lateral play. Periodic operational maintenance requires only routine surface cleaning using water and mild detergent to remove traffic film, automotive oils, and dust, ensuring the reflective sticker strips maintain peak visibility in dimly lit indoor basements and outdoor night environments.
