Mechanical Mounting, Electrical Connections, and Control Integration for KTI 200 mm Traffic Signal Head

Proper installation of the KTI KTI16029200TSRYG 200 mm 3-aspect LED traffic light ensures reliable optical signaling and long-term durability across roadway, industrial, and access automation environments. The unit features an impact-resistant molded polycarbonate enclosure with an IP65 certified weatherproof gasketed construction designed for 24/7 continuous operation.

Mechanical Mounting and Physical Placement

The KTI 200 mm traffic signal head is engineered to be mounted directly onto standard traffic posts, structural uprights, or specialized mounting frameworks. Note that mounting poles and support structures are not supplied with the signal head and must be provisioned separately to match site-specific infrastructure requirements.

When positioning the signal housing:

  • Ensure the housing is mounted with the front directional aspect oriented directly toward incoming vehicular, pedestrian, or cyclist traffic lanes.
  • Orient the 3-aspect housing vertically with Red at the top, Amber/Yellow in the center, and Green at the bottom to maintain standard roadway signaling conventions.
  • Secure the polycarbonate enclosure firmly against the support bracket to eliminate mechanical vibration caused by high winds or continuous industrial operations.
  • Verify that the IP65 weatherproof seals and internal gaskets remain properly seated during bracket attachment to preserve ingress protection against heavy rain, washdown, and airborne dust.

Electrical Wiring and 24V DC Power Configuration

The signal head operates on a low-voltage 24V DC power supply. All electrical wiring must be routed to prevent moisture ingress through the cable entry ports.

Wiring execution guidelines:

  • Connect a regulated 24V DC power source capable of supporting 24/7 continuous duty operation.
  • Wire each 200 mm optical aspect—Red, Yellow/Amber, and Green—to its respective switched output channel or common ground bus according to the control schematic.
  • Tighten cable glands securely after pulling wiring through the enclosure to maintain the integrity of the IP65 certified housing.

Automation System and Controller Integration

The KTI16029200TSRYG is fully compatible with external 24V DC traffic signal controllers, vehicle loop detectors, and access control relays across diverse facility types.

Application Environment Integration & Control Interface Functional Purpose
Roadways & Intersections 24V DC Traffic Signal Controller Phased lane signaling, junction control, and crossing management
Toll Booth Lanes Toll Management Lane Controller / Relays Vehicle throughput clearance and lane status indication
Industrial Weighbridges & Loading Bays Vehicle Loop Detectors & Facility Relays Queue sequencing, scale positioning, and dock door authorization
Automated Parking Lots Access Control Barrier Relays & Sensors Entry/exit barrier synchronization and lane access status

Pre-Commissioning Checklist

Before putting the signal head into live service, perform the following verification steps:

  • Voltage Verification: Confirm that the input voltage across all terminal lines reads 24V DC under active load conditions.
  • Sequence Testing: Individually trigger the Red, Amber/Yellow, and Green 200 mm aspects via the controller or loop detector logic to confirm proper switching sequence.
  • Visual Alignment: Check line-of-sight alignment from driver and operator approach distances across the designated roadway or access lane.
  • Enclosure Seal Integrity: Inspect the polycarbonate housing closures to ensure the IP65 gasketed perimeter is fully compressed and secure against environmental exposure.
