Application Scenarios & Deployment Environments

The Hikvision ISD-SMG218L AcuSeek walk-through metal detector is engineered for checkpoint screening, access control, and entrance/exit management across high-density facilities. Operating across an ambient temperature range of -10 °C to 55 °C and consuming 24 W (100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz), the archway delivers adaptable metal detection capabilities via configurable 1, 6, 11, 12, or 18 detection zones and 999 sensitivity levels.

High-Throughput Corporate Headquarters & Commercial Buildings

In enterprise lobbies and corporate office checkpoints, maintaining rapid transit flow without compromising perimeter security is critical. The ISD-SMG218L integrates bilateral infrared (IR) beam sensors that provide real-time passenger counting and transit tracking. The integrated 7-inch color LCD displays live passage numbers, alarm counts, active alarm zones, and system time, giving security personnel immediate operational visibility.

With its 2 alarm output interfaces, the metal detector can link directly into third-party automated access gates, speed gates, or turnstiles to restrict entry automatically when metallic threats are flagged. Centralized monitoring can be handled over the onboard RJ45 Ethernet network interface, allowing security teams to adjust device configurations remotely via a standard web browser.

Government Facilities & High-Security Access Checkpoints

Government offices, municipal buildings, and regulated facilities require rigorous screening against concealed contraband. The ISD-SMG218L delivers detection accuracy down to coin-sized metallic targets (approximately 25 mm diameter) without omission or cross reporting. Simultaneous multi-zone alarm processing enables the archway to identify and pinpoint multiple metallic objects carried at different elevations at the same time.

Full-height LED light bars installed on both vertical doorposts visually illuminate the exact zone of detection, accelerating manual wanding and secondary inspections. Furthermore, an ultra-low detection threshold identifies metallic items positioned higher than 1 cm above the ground, preventing concealment near footwear or lower extremities.

Multi-Lane Transit Hubs & Checkpoint Arrays

Bus terminals, passenger railway stations, and high-capacity transit portals often demand multi-channel screening lanes deployed within limited floor space. The ISD-SMG218L features programmable frequency channels that mitigate ambient electromagnetic interference. This capability allows multiple detector arches to operate side-by-side with a minimum clearance of just 20 cm between units.

Security protocols at busy checkpoints are further strengthened by specialized throwing object detection, which flags metallic items tossed or pitched through the 1980 mm (H) × 710 mm (W) × 501 mm (D) archway tunnel to bypass standard pedestrian screening.

Industrial Loss Prevention & Asset Protection

Manufacturing facilities, electronics assembly plants, and distribution centers utilize the ISD-SMG218L at employee exit points to mitigate inventory shrinkage and unauthorized tool or component removal:

  • Precision Calibration: Sensitivity adjustable across 999 increments allows engineers to calibrate target thresholds according to specific metal sizes and production materials.
  • Automated Self-Testing: Integrated power-on self-diagnosis automatically checks system components upon startup and displays operational status on the 7-inch LCD.
  • Flexible Local Control: Checkpoint supervisors can reconfigure detection parameters locally using the optional infrared handheld remote control (batteries are not included) or via network management.
