Mechanical Mounting and Environmental Placement
The Hikvision DS-KV8102-IP villa door station is engineered for surface-mounted installation on exterior perimeter walls, entrance gateposts, or building entry pillars directly adjacent to access doors. The engineered plastic enclosure measures 164 mm (L) × 97 mm (W) × 54.4 mm (H) (6.46 in × 3.82 in × 2.14 in) and carries an IP65 ingress protection rating against environmental dust and low-pressure water jets. Field installation must adhere to the certified operating temperature window of -40° C to +60° C (-40° F to 140° F) with relative humidity levels between 10% and 90% (non-condensing).
Power Supply Architecture and Cabling Requirements
The station requires an external direct current power infrastructure with a maximum rated power consumption of ≤12 W. The unit does not support conventional IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at standard PoE switches; attempting to power the device from standard active PoE infrastructure will result in boot failure. System integrators must power the station through one of two approved methods:
- Local DC Supply: A dedicated, regulated 12 VDC local power supply wired directly to the station power terminals.
- Proprietary Power Over Network Cable: A 24 VDC connection delivered across structured Cat5e or Cat6 network cabling routed through compatible Hikvision video/audio distributor hubs, specifically the DS-KAD606 or DS-KAD612 distribution units.
Peripheral Wiring: Access Relays, Inputs, and Serial Bus
Structured Cat5e or Cat6 cabling terminates into the station's single RJ-45 10/100 Mbps self-adaptive Ethernet port. Additional dry-contact field wiring interfaces include:
- Alarm Inputs (4 Channels): Supports direct wiring for door magnetic contact sensors, external request-to-exit (RTE) push buttons, and tamper monitoring switches.
- Relay Output (1 Channel): Features selectable Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) status settings for controlling electric strikes, magnetic locks, or automatic gate operators. For high-inrush loads such as heavy magnetic locks or motorized drop bolts, integrators must drive the locking hardware via an isolated external power supply with a protective flyback diode across the inductive coil to protect the onboard relay contacts from voltage spikes and contact fusion.
- Serial Communication (1 Port): An integrated half-duplex RS-485 terminal allows serial communication interfacing with external peripheral devices.
Network Configuration, Indoor Station Linking, and Card Enrollment
Commissioning is performed over the local network via TCP/IP utilizing the Hikvision iVMS-4200 software platform or the integrated web configuration interface. Integrators can execute remote firmware updates, batch parameter configuration, and time synchronization via NTP. The station broadcasts real-time video via the RTSP protocol and pairs directly with Hikvision IP indoor video intercom monitors (including the DS-KH6210, DS-KH6310, DS-KH6320, and DS-KH8301 series) across the LAN. For access credential programming via the onboard 13.56 MHz Mifare IC card reader, field credentials must be issued locally at the station before the device is bound to iVMS-4200 client management, as activating card management centrally within the software disables local card enrollment.
