Hikvision DS-KIS212 Installation, Wiring, and System Topology

The Hikvision DS-KIS212 four-wire HD video intercom system is engineered for surface-mounted deployment at commercial and residential entry points. The kit comprises an outdoor door station and a 7-inch indoor station communicating over a standardized four-wire connection bus.

Mechanical Mounting and Hardware Setup

Both stations in the DS-KIS212 system support surface mounting. Physical preparation requires evaluating wall surfaces and conduit paths prior to anchoring:

  • Indoor Station: Dimensions measure 178 mm (W) × 132 mm (H) × 19 mm (D). The unit mounts directly to a flat wall surface or standard junction box using a dedicated wall mounting plate. Secure the plate using two SC-KM4X25 screws, then hook the indoor station securely onto the mounting plate brackets. Operation is managed through 4 physical buttons alongside a 1024 × 600 resolution colorful TFT screen.
  • Door Station: Features a plastic housing with compact dimensions of 136 mm × 51 mm × 20 mm. The assembly is designed for surface mounting adjacent to entry portals. It features 1 physical call button for one-press visitor calling.

Four-Wire System Topology and Interfaces

The system utilizes a plug-and-play four-wire architecture for streamlined connectivity between field units:

  • Indoor Station Interfacing: Equipped with four dedicated four-wire interfaces. Two ports are allocated for connection to outdoor door stations, and two ports are reserved for indoor extension units.
  • Expansion Capacity: A complete DS-KIS212 installation supports a maximum system limit of up to 2 door stations and up to 3 indoor stations connected concurrently.
  • Configuration and Diagnostics: The indoor station incorporates a 1-bit DIP switch for hardware configuration and 1 debugging port. The door station provides 1 four-wire terminal interface and 1 dedicated debugging port for commissioning.

Lock Control and Auxiliary Video Integration

The door station incorporates an integrated lock control interface consisting of 1 relay output rated for switching circuits up to 30 V, 1 A. This relay provides electrical signaling to door release hardware for one-press door unlocking from the indoor monitor station. Additionally, the indoor station includes 1 BNC interface capable of receiving an analog video feed from 1 linked external surveillance camera.

Power Supply and Operating Parameters

The DS-KIS212 stations operate from 12 VDC electrical supplies. Ensure power distribution aligns with equipment load limits:

DeviceOperating VoltagePower ConsumptionOperating TemperatureOperating Humidity
Door Station12 VDCMax. 4 W-30° C to +60° C10% to 90%
Indoor Station12 VDC≤ 5 W-10° C to +55° C (14° F to 131° F)10% to 90%

Optical Placement Considerations

The door station camera transmits 1280 × 720 resolution video at 60 fps using HD-TVI analog high-definition transmission. Mounting height should account for the camera lens field of view (130° horizontal and 70° vertical) to capture visitors effectively. Integrated infrared supplement lighting delivers low-light coverage with an effective illumination distance of up to 3 meters from the station faceplate. Both units feature integrated omnidirectional microphones and built-in loudspeakers for full bidirectional communication.
